Allied night bombers

Post by wga8888 »

Still early in the war (April 42) where I have a 72 experience group of Blenheim IF night bombers. They always bomb (primarily airfields) at 2000 ft regardless of my settings and never score any form of damage. Bomb load is small. Opponent says his pilot morale shows no effect. What is the value of this unit other than historical?

Blenheim with a F means fighter. They revealed totally useless as day figher so they used them as night fighter.

So yes it isn't suppose to be good in night bombing [:'(]

edit : Wellington is supposed to be a night bomber.

+1 Gaspote

Also keep in mind night fighters are purely defensive (CAP and RCAP only), they will not sweep or escort at night over enemy locations. The Brits get mkIV FBs in 43, they can be very effective at night bombing from 1000'. However...like the mkI models in '42 there is an "f" model that is (I think...game not with me today) excluseively night fighters.

Understood. I will keep flying them vs safe targets to continue to build up experiences. they will be in top form by then time they may prove useful as night fighters. When do the Japanese have an effective night bomber?

Game does not have "night bombers". Any kind of bomber can fly night missions.

Not sure. Usually start to see Japanese night fights (vs day fighters flying at night) in early '43, about the same time the 1st brit night fighter shows up and we'll after the first u.s. nf.

As noted above any plane can fly at night. Nf are just more effective at it.

Edit: to echo above...no night bmbrs. My 1st comment re:fighter bomber being well suited for use as night (or day if no cap) attks

you spoke of Wellington. I put (april '42) a squadroon in Moulmein to use against main airfield nearby
to use effectively a plane like the wellington at night, which is the best height at which let them fly?
Many thanks

The 1F squadron withdraws pretty early. Its best use is to prevent the AI from night bombing one of your airbases in range of its bombers.
