Holiday Sale: Scourge of War Gettysburg 150th Anniversary Collection

Post by Qwixt »

Is there any reason why "Scourge of War Gettysburg 150th Anniversary Collection" is not on sale? It seems like all the individual games are on sale, and I assume that this version contains just the one file install, instead of having to install and keep track of the various expansions.

All I can think of is that the 150th Anniversary Edition includes Brandy Station which is not on sale.

That one is already a huge 50 buck savings than if bought individually. But well well worth the money. But it prob is brandy that keeps her off the list.

Well they could manipulate the discount so that you are getting Brandy station in the SOW 150th but that portion is not discounted - they would get the $$$ they want - and I would get the preferred
package I want (and AAAtoysandmore wants too).

How about it Erik and Iain? - and you'll get the money now - not a year from now

actuallyI want Norb to go Ancient on us. What I wouldn't do for Rome by Norbsoft. I'm tired of the civilwar stuff and napoleon, but hell I've been playing them since the 60's. I suspect he's going to do a Shilo version of his game next though if he already hasn't.

Exactly. We get one install, and they still get the price of sale expansions + brandy.

And they can use the extra profits to improve the sales software so it does not do these weird things - then they'll make even
more money off of us - WOW! what a plan

How about cheap (sale) and lazy (one install). I am willing to wait another year for it to spare myself multiple installs [:D]

Fwiw

It ends up all in the same file. They are expansions so by the time it's installed you've got it all in one place. It's not 20 different folders.

Took me all of 15 min to install all the individual packs and then about 10 more minutes to load up all the mods I have, then about 10 more min to download every map pack created. So 30 min basically start to finish, playing within 45 min of start.

It is not nearly so bad as it sounds. Oh and 5 min to gather all the different packs before I started.

Really 45 minutes? I've done it in under 15 easy.

...

maybe not the mods.

I remember a time when 45 minutes was my average download time, Heck some games even took all day and then some. I would have my machine downloading for days.

I've had some very slow download times after buying from matrix. My last purchase was command ops during the weekly sale. I think it took me over an hour to download the two files (900mb and 290mb), maybe even much longer as I don't remember at this point. IIRC, I was getting 56k baud modem speeds.
