Air combat paused with no way forward?

Post by Greyshaft »

Playing Barbarossa solitaire with v1.03
Axis attacking Russian hex in rain with 1 LND + 2 FTR in Ground support.
Russians respond with their own ground support of 2 LND + 2 FTR escort (not interception)
The first three combats were Axis fighter aborted, Russian bomber cleared ,Axis fighter destroyed
I selected the Axis fighter as destroyed but the game won't move forward from here.

What am I missing?

To me it looks like it is Germany (Axis) that decides which USSR (Allied) unit to destroy.

Could it be that you clicked on a Axis unit when you should click on Allied unit?

D'oh!!! You're right.

The system was waiting for me to select an allied unit and my mind was still back in the previous round thinking it wanted the Axis casualty which I had already provided before the dice rolled again. That's what happens when you play MWiF for six hours straight

A2A results are confusing, takes a little to get that wired in your brain ;) Attacker (A? results) apply to the side rolling the dice, defender (D? results) to the side not rolling the dice. As opposed to the phasing/non-phasing side.

p.s.: there is a clear instruction in the "Die Roll Effects" box.

I have no excuse for misreading it [:(]

Air-to-air combat can take place during naval interception combat in the end-of-turn Return to Base phase. That's one reason why phasing and non-phasing were not used in the labels. Trust me, it was very difficult keeping the A & D sides straight when writing the code.
