My first attempt: "One night in the Mediterranean"

A small ASW scenario set in 1950.
You command the USS Mindoro (CVE-120) and escorting destroyers to clear the Sicilian narrows of soviet submarines.

I love small missions and escort carriers, so this was right up my alley.

I played it and successfully hunted down all three subs with no losses. Only oddities were the scenario didn't end when the three subs were killed, and the destroyers kinda went off on their own at 20 kt cruise speed while the carrier remained at 12 kts. Not sure what happened there, but the destroyers found themselves about 50 nm ahead of the carrier. They didn't respond to their formation stations at all. I'll post that in the bug forum.

I tried this out. Here is a short AAR...

Having received my orders, I set a course of 173 degrees S. I will hook around the island of Pantelleria and then cruise north. I also set up a patrol zone around the island, about 50 miles east-to-west and 30 miles north-to-south. A big area, but I'm going to start by casting a wide net. Avengers go up and start looking for subs.

After about three hours (23:23), my sonobuoys pick up a submarine. Looks like it is about 20 miles east of the island. I send an Avenger after it. After about 20 minutes, I send a second plane to help. Right around this time, another sub shows up, slightly northeast of the island. I send a third plane up.

Around 1 AM, the first goblin is dispatched and the first two Avengers go home, but the second goblin is a lot more wily. In total, I send six aircraft after him and they drop depth charges and torpedoes and everything misses. However, there are now enough sonobuoys in the water that it is almost impossible for him to hide. And, for some reason, he is sitting very still...perhaps trying to be quiet? Or waiting in ambush for me? Too bad I already see him.

At 1:20 AM, my task force is rounding the southern shore of Pantelleria and Goblin 3 shows up about four miles northeast of my carrier! I quickly change course and send up two more planes. The submarine does not seem to have seen me. He does nothing. And then he dies.

I can still see Goblin 2, but all my planes are busy reloading. It will be a couple of hours before I can send anything up. I cruise north.

At about 3 AM, Hunter 1 takes off. In a matter of minutes, he is on top of Goblin 2 and fires...and kills him!

At 3:15, I check my score (100 points/Major Victory) and the losses window shows I have killed the three Soviet subs, so I call it a night.

Observations

I liked this one. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write it. It is a nice, simple scenario. Good for people to try out if they were learning there way around Command...it's a bit challenging, especially because the older platforms are more limited in sensors and weapons, but not too hard or too complex.

One recommendation...I try to use the standard format for orders (SITREP/INTEL, ENEMY FORCES, etc.); it's not that important, but it's one of those little touches that I think adds a bit of realism to the scenario and helps players get more engaged with it and enjoy it more (You know..."Oooo...it's like I'm really there"...that sort of thing).

Again, thank you. It was a fun scenario. Please keep writing them.

Thank you for a nice little scenario, I like it to be able to keep my eyes and clicks on individual units, so perfect size for that. Keep those little ones coming.
Congratulations on your first scenario, I concur with Marks comments above on the SITREPs and - if you want to make it 100% - there is a typo in the scenario description as it is "Marseille" not "Marsseilles". Which has not diminished the fun I had with your scen.

PS I just learned that "Marseilles" is the name of "Marseille" in english expression. To use "Marseilles" should be possible. Still there is an obsolote "s" in the scen description.
