Simulating other conflicts ?

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Simulating other conflicts ?

Post by bluth »

Hi,
I'm very interested by this game, the scale, the game engine, the period or even the graphism are exactly what I've been looking for.
But I was wondering if the game was only capable of simulating battle for this specific time and place (russian offensive in central europe) or if it was moddable enough to recreate American war in Afghanistan or french operation in Africa.
For Instance Command modern air naval operation (wich is awesome) can recreate a vast array of conflict, is FlashPoint Campaign editor powerfull enough to do the same ?
Thanks for reading !

Us too! [:D]

The system is designed for use to cover conflicts from at least 1939 though near future.

The game is moddable enough to do any 'modern' warfare situation (WWII through future), either historical or 'what if'.

Actually, no we aren't. Our editor is only capable of doing land combat with Close Air Support added in from the editor. There are no ships of any kind in the game, and to my knowledge, CD doesn't plan on adding any. [:(]

Now, if you want to get together on land we can do those!!

The current Orders of Battle (OOB) that come in the editor cover British, Soviet, US and West German forces, from 1979 through 1989. Those can all be modded to add other countries and we intend on adding to the data base for you as we add more content.

Good Hunting.

Thanks for the fast answer !
So i think i ll acquire it, if the game can recreate anything from WWII that's awesome!

Actually when i was speaking of CMANO, i wasnt speaking about the capacity of FC:RS to recreate naval and air battle,CMANO does it very well but just the extended timeline of this one.
If there is CMANO for air and naval and FC for land combat in modern wars, it's perfect !

It may take us awhile to get to WWII. We'll see. That would require a change in scale from the current game. Which is okay, so would several other theaters, like Korea 51 for instance.
Actually when i was speaking of CMANO, i wasnt speaking about the capacity of FC:RS to recreate naval and air battle...

REALLY???? [X(]

Yes, of course. I know you weren't. I was joking with you. [:D]

We've come to that same conclusion, it's perfect! [&o]

For the current conflict the USMC most likely wouldn't be involved in Germany but would be a good candidate for fighting in Norway along with local and British Forces.

Winter maps, ski troops, heliborne insertions, soviet paradrops, something possibly on the horizon but we can dream for now can't we? [:D]

Of course there would have to an Artic expansion for that.

Norway, Finland, Sweden and USMC. What a combination. [:D]

Hopefully not before an expansion for Central Europe. I still need to see my beloved Canucks take the field.
