Hurrah!

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Hurrah!

Post by wodin »

Just got my first decisive Victory (Just)...

Actually played the correct version of the scenario.

Had an Inf unit in the fortified area far right..boy they where heroes of highest caliber and sadly all died but 1 squad.

Greetings from the Inspectorate of the General Staff -

To: Colonel, commanding 4th Pz Bde TF

* In the battle of "NS_WGS The Pied Piper" your forces worth 3,320 points secured 79% (16383 vs 4331) of awarded victory points against an enemy force worth 5,814 points. The Inspectorate congratulates you and rates your performance as excellent.

* Your force has claimed 5 Recce, 48 Tank, 69 APC, 46 Inf, 5 SP AT, 13 HQ and 2 AD enemy subunits.

* Remaining force tally -
Active: 16 Tank, 12 APC, 13 Inf, 3 HQ, 6 SP Arty and 2 Utility.
Fallen out: 7 Tank, 5 APC, 2 Inf and 2 Utility.
Destroyed: 3 Tank, 6 APC and 7 Inf.

* By the end of the battle your units had a 92% average readiness and a command cyle duration of 27 minutes.

* Your force took significant - 19% - permanent losses and must refit for for a moderate time to recover the 16 fallen out subunit(s).

Staff evaluation complete.

Estimated subunit states at present time:

- West German Forces:
Fuchs - 1 starting.
Headquarters - 2 starting.
Leopard 1A1A1 - 13 starting, 3 fallen out, 2 destroyed.
Leopard 2A4 - 13 starting, 4 fallen out, 1 destroyed.
M109A3G - 6 starting.
M113GA1 - 11 starting.
M577A2 C2V - 1 starting.
MAN N 4510 - 4 starting, 2 fallen out.
Marder 1 A2 [m] - 11 starting, 5 fallen out, 6 destroyed.
MG3 Medium MG - 2 starting, 1 destroyed.
PzGren ATGM - 6 starting, 2 fallen out, 1 destroyed.
PzGrenadiers - 14 starting, 5 destroyed.

Just going through the editor and it's surprising how much equipment is now outdated for all nations..very few are still in service.

The Inf unit who had been all out on his own in the fortified position once it was clear went and grabbed a 750VL..though bumped into th enemy close by..lost another squad but managed to kill a BMP and an enemy squad and move off..pure narrative! Nothing better when a game creates an exciting narrative. Oh he hadn't got that VL I wouldn't have got the Decisive..so he was erm...decisive! He caused loads of hassle to the enemy rear lines during the game..

how do you get a decisive victory? In the few games I've played, I only get a message to the effect of "the enemy is reorganizing, the battle is over", and don't see any indication of how well I did, it's not even clear if I won?

at the end of the game, after the message you mentioned, the Tactical Operation Center (F2) will open and your result will be summarized in the last sheet on the right (staff summary report). You also will be able to browse all units including your opponent's.

By the end of many of these battles I can understand your eyes glazing over! [:D]
