Hunting Bear: Decisive Victory

Post by LittleDogmaOne »

July 22, 0400 hours (night, haze/fog, visual 1500 meters)

As commander of 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division: Hell on Wheels, I decided to taking advantage of long range capability of M1A1s/long range TOW anti tank missile capability of M2/M3s in order to persuade elements of 63rd Guards Tank Regiment to fighting against us in the open field. I formally granted the right to the mechanized rifles' commander an authority in order to prepare for demolition the strategic bridge(s)in east of Steinbeck in order to delay 63rd GTR's avenue of approach to west. Finally, I conferred with some of my unit commanders in order to deploy some of their M1A1s and M2/M3s with Mechanized Rifles in battle position/strong point(s) around or near by in Drestedt and Steinbeck area. Its my intention to luring element(s) of 63rd GTR to the open field, and leaving Soviet Mechanized rifles and APCs behind. At approximately 1000 hours, elements of 2nd Armored Division were able to regain some strategic objective(s) back under NATO's control and evicted some element(s) of 63rd GTR out of the objective with vengeance. At 1148 hours, 63rd GTR were forced to withdraw from the battlefield and limping back to east.

Greetings from the Inspectorate of the General Staff -

To: General, commanding Hell On Wheels

* In the battle of "CA1 Hunting Bears" your forces worth 19,045 points secured 68% (21831 vs 10170) of awarded victory points against an enemy force worth 21,862 points. The Inspectorate congratulates you and rates your performance as excellent.

* Your force has claimed 29 Recce, 227 Tank, 66 APC, 6 Inf, 3 SP AT, 18 HQ, 6 AD and 17 Utility enemy subunits.

* Remaining force tally -
Active: 20 Recce, 81 Tank, 63 APC, 43 Inf, 34 HQ, 20 AD, 14 SP Arty, 9 Utility and 2 Air.

Destroyed: 3 Recce, 5 Tank, 9 APC, 1 Inf and 1 HQ.

On July 23, 1989 0400 hours (night, light rain, visual 1500 meters) Day Two

3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division prepared to defend the open field, and persuading element of Soviet Mechanized rifles/Tanks to come out and play with us in the open once again. Its my priority goal: secure all objective(s) as much as possible in order. Its my intention to blow up couple of the strategic bridge in order to protecting both of flank from north and south. Mechanized Rifles will protecting both flanks, and create a kill zone with a direct support by one of our artillery assets.

I conferred with my air defense commanders to hunting HINDs down, and destroy it as quick as possible before they are able to going to put world of hurt on us. Intelligence reports that there will be 20 + helicopter assets are flying around in this area. Kill it!

Happy hunting, gentlemen.

Wow, my hat goes off to you. A Decisive Victory is a great result. The best I have managed so far in Hunting Bears is a tactical success. This was tempered by the fact it was bought at a price of too much blood and equipment by the brave boys of the 2nd Armored Division. Needless to say the rest of the campaign did not go well.

The kill zone around Tostedt seems to have really worked out for you. In my experience I usually get overrun by successive echelons in that area.

Cheers!

At approximately 1027 hours, elements of 61st Guards Tank Regiment, 248th Guards MRR, 62nd GTR, and 63rd GTR were force to withdraw from the battlefield and limping back to east once again. Unfortunately, 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division were unable to secure all strategic objectives on time. In my own eyes, contested battle, is a victory. As commander of 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division, I walked toward the hill near by Gross Mechkelsen in order to survey the battlefield and bloody real estate(s) were littered with all burning Soviet mechanized, tanks, and dead Soviet soldiers around or near by Sittensen, Hamersen, and Lengenbosiel.

I slowly shaking my head then mumbled to myself, "Only Good Soviet is a dead Soviet" then turn around toward the 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division HQ for another round with red bear...

Kill Zone(s), but HINDs continued to harassing us and put world of hurt on my precious M1A1s and M2/M3 with Mechanized rifles. Air Defense units failed to take HINDs down before they were able to put world of hurt against us. There will be no mistake, we will correct that in next round with red bear.

On July 24, 1989 at approximately 0000 hours (night, clear, visual 1500 meters)

3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division received an order to move out to north, and then secure all objective(s) (strategic bridges) as soon as possible. 2nd Armored Division Chief of Staff briefed me about an intel reports indicate that local enemy force may contain 20 - 30 recce, 1 to 10 Helo, 30 - 40 tanks, 30 to 40 APC, 30 - 40 Inf, 1 to 10 AT, 30 - 40 HQ, 20 to 30 AD, 20 to 30 SP Arty, 10 to 20 Arty, 30 - 40 Utility sub-units.

As 3rd brigade of 2nd Armored Division commander, I am going to making them to pay heavily for what they did in previous battle. Privately, I am not looking forward for another bloody day, but we are pressing on....regardless what.

3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division is determined to continue to pushing them back to east until they are preparing to surrender to NATO and its allies.

You're doing well so far. Interesting results you're getting. That is the first decisive victory I had seen for Hunting Bears.

I've said before that getting a contested battle result will often be viewed as a win. In your case it was and rightfully so.

I'm looking forward to see how you do in the rest of the campaign.

Good Hunting.
