Is the Scenario Editor functioning?

Post by pz501 »

It could be that I'm overlooking something simple and obvious, but it looks to me as if the Scenario Editor is not functioning correctly.

It seems to load, but there are no menus (as shown in the pre-release tutorial) coming up at all...I'm talking about the ones on the left side of the screen here.

This makes it impossible to select or load a scenario for editing.

I wonder if the editor has been disabled, or if I'm doing something wrong? I've also seen that in post number 6 of the tutorial thread, Capt Darwin makes reference to the fact that Mad Russian is using a debug mode not available to players.

Apologies if I'm overlooking something.

The debug tool is something that runs independent of the game.

I have used the scenario editor as late as last evening and it was working. Something else is happening. Can you take a screen shot of what you are seeing?

Good Hunting.

Could you possibly be in the Map or Campaign editor and not the scenario editor? Yes a screen shot would be helpful.

I can't seem to get the screen shot I took to upload, but here is a word picture of what I see:

When I select "Scenario" under "Editors" from the game Main Menu, I get a screen with the exact same map loaded as in post #2 of the Scenario Creation Tutorial. Only the map is showing. There is no gray panel with the "Scenario Creation Checklist" present on the left of the screen. Because of this, I cannot click on a green "Next" button at the bottom of the gray panel, since to me, it isn't there. This prevents any scenario selection, or proceeding any further.

This was done with a fresh re-install of the game. If it's of any use, my screen resolution is 1920x1080, using an NVIDIA Ge-Force GT 530 card, and an Acer H243H monitor. I've double checked my drivers, and they are up to date.

I've double checked to be sure I'm using the Scenario Editor, and not the Map or Campaign Editor. Same results, and changing screen resolution is no help either.

Can you get to the Start new Scenario or Campaign and start a scenario or campaign?

Mad Russian,

When the Scenario Editor opens, there is NO panel on the left side. This means there is NO "next" button on the bottom.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the game, changed screen resolution, checked to be sure that my drivers are up to date. I've also double and triple checked to be certain I'm using the correct editor. I can confirm that the map and campaign editors load and work...it is the scenario editor that is not functioning.

MR:

I can start a new Scenario or Campaign with no problems at all. The only element of the game that is not working for me is the Scenario Editor.

Okay. We are having a meeting this evening. Your issue will be one of the topics.

It would be helpful to know if anyone else is having this issue.

OK, thanks for the help so far. I'm sure we'll discover what's going wrong. One last item - just a minute ago, I un-installed, wiped all traces of the game from my hard drive, and re-downloaded the game's installer from Plimus. The scenario editor problem is still there even after doing this. Everything else (individual scenarios, campaign game, map editor, and campaign editor) works correctly.

You can email your screen shot at crbelva@comcast.net

If you could also get do a Dxdiag file as Erik outlined in the tech support forum, I will make sure Rob gets them to look at. It may help us isolate the problem.

Did as you suggested. Changing the DPI settings from 98 to 96 fixed the problem, and everything is functional now. Many thanks for the help and patience.
