CONTENTS OF DATABASE

Post by HudsonGame »

I really want to get Command, but before I lay down a C Note (I want the boxed edition), I would like to know what ships are in the database. Is there someplace where you can see what is in the database?[:)]

No there are thousands of entries and we can't just post them as we'd be giving away content/value by doing that.

Pretty sure our customer's here can attest to what's in the databases.

Thanks!

I am sure if you know it existed then it is moist likely in there..

Now, I have one that was not in there.....you see I was showing it to a Jamaican friend of mine and was going to show him his air force bases etc.....the game showed none. I was puzzled until he started laughing and said they have no air force.....so technically the game is correct...

But By Grace Go I.......

Just about any significant (and many obscure) ship, sub or aircraft that's seen service since after WWII. New items are being added all the time, too.

Wow, that was my very point. A C Note for any game is quite a lot. The only thing I am looking for is a list of the ships included, not any kind of detailed printout of the database. If you check, I have bought a number of Matrix games in the past, and will continue to do so. But, I read the SimHQ review (which was mixed) and the deciding factor for me is the content of the database (mostly the ships). I suppose if it must be kept a secret (which I do not understand, because if it is as great as you say, that would be a big plus for people to buy it), then I will have to hold off for now. I have just forged ahead and bought games in the past (paying a great deal for them) only to be very disappointed.

Thanks,

John[:)]

Also year-specific variants of ships. And the ability to mod them pretty well as you wish. Is there something in particular you're looking for? Really, if it's in a navy somewhere in the past near 70 years, it's here.

Take a decades worth of Jane's Fighting Ships, put them in a database, build a game around it. That is a subset of Command.

The database is unbelievable it is vast and comprehensive. Its worth the money just on what units you can choose from.

In terms of military platforms and variants, it would probalby be much much easier to list the units that are NOT in he DB [X(]

But seriously, the CMANO DB is so comprehensive, that even THAT list would be a diffucult one to come up with.

Let's put it this way: If you find a ship that's not in the database which has seen service in any navy or will enter service in the near future, and you need it for a scenario the DB admins will likely add it for the next scheduled DB update. If you don't need it for a scen immediately they will put it in their ToDo list and add it eventually.

Cheers,
JP

Guys,

OK, Ok, I give in. I take what all of you have been telling me to heart and will go ahead and buy the game (I have wanted to anyway). I just was worried about being stung again.

Thanks,

What classes of battleships are in the game, or is the Iowa the only ones.
