Improvment Request: Multiple windows?

Post by ExMachina »

This idea came up in another thread but might be worth its own.

One thing that I liked about H2/3 was the ability to have multiple windows, simultaneously showing different parts of the battle space. Multiple windows would probably go a long way to make larger engagements in CMANO more easily manageable. Importantly, I think multiple windows might fit easily into CMANO because of the game's already windowed format, and its support of multiple monitors.

+1 to this. Would make multi-monitor setups even more useful, among others.

Multiple windows + 1 from here.

Somethings in command could be improved. Simhq review may bee bit too harsh but hits nail on UI.. some way there is harder to see things than harppoon.

But i really belive that after patch or two command will be much better. [8D]

Just thinking about this some more, multiple window views might also be a way to keep track of and organize surface groups formations (provided that it's possible to toggle the unit/group display setting of each independently of each window independently..which might be impossible?). You could have a unit-view in one window (and micromanage speeds, stations, and patrol zones etc...) and then the group view in the other window to manage the battle space at a higher level. Would be interested to know the technical feasibility of something like this

This one would be very difficult guys. UI is complicated.
