Your browser should allow you to select the folder from which a game is loaded. Just backspace over the folder name until you get a list of folders, then select the folder of the old version, select the saved games folder, load the saved game, then save into the current version's folder. No need to start a new game or forgo the update at all...

god i still love this game [&o] playing it with extended races :)

p.s. i ask all the time my biggest stupid question does victory conditions vs sandbox mode effect the ai behavior?

Hello,

I'm sorry if there is an official post somewhere here but I had not found it. I've just purchased DW + its 3 addons. My two questions :

- Why can I not register Distant Worlds in my Matrix website account, while I can do this for its addons
- Why the download from Plimus are lower versions than those showed in my account. The plimus link for instance make me download Shadowsv1906.exe while I have a v19010 on my "Registered" Matrix link.
If I understand well, Plimus links are outdated and I should go for Matrix link instead ?

Ok, the download links on my Matrix account are just patchs (is it normal that lastest patchs for expansions are ALL beta versions ?).
But no patch for Distant Worlds, the download link is the last build ?

Thank you, I really want to play the game, but there is no topic explaining what are the lastest versions of Distant Worlds....


May someone links me a step-by-step patching walkthrough ?

Just install the base game then each expansion in order (RotS, Legends, and Shadows). Finally patch Shadows to 1.0.9.11 and you are up to date. There is no need to patch the base game or any of the other expansions.

Thanks so much the private sector ship retrofitting is soo much better know that they just add the retrofit order to their queue, big big fix.

Which patch version was the improved retrofitting that Jamthree referenced introduced? I haven't noticed a specific reference in any of the latest change logs to a change in how the private sector retrofits?

I at least regularly can mass sell/trade, but as to selling techs I have received recently, cannot say as I have watched that. I HAVE noticed the other races Racial Tech I have managed to acquire is available to trade.

The original Distant Worlds allowed selling of any tech you had, but later releases restricted what you could sell to what you had learned or acquired, specifically prohibiting the sale of any purchased tech. I don't see ANY purchased tech available for sale in Legends or Shadows.

Then maybe it was Espionage or from Retirement of wrecks or something. I know I have sold techs I never developed on my own. I never elect to develop Phaser or Mass Driver techs, but will pick them up to round out a tech buy and will sell them to others preferentially. Maybe purchased techs are indeed blocked, it is just not always clear where they came from.

Is it possible some Mods have purchased tech trading turned on somehow?

V1.9.0.9 – August 2nd, 2013...
AREA WEAPONS
- epicenter of area weapons is no longer centered on firer. Instead area weapons now fire at target and the damage shockwave expands from the target (similar to area gravity weapons)

Does this mean that the range listed for the weapon is now both the maximum distance from the firer to the epicenter, as well as the blast radius from the epicentre?
