My hope is that this game will rival one of the Sig lines on the WITP-AE forum - "The least expensive, non-free game based on hours played", don't have it exactly but based on how much I plan on playing - the cost will be pennies an hour or less...[:D]

That's awesome! As for Command living up to that expectation, well, we'll have to see. After all, how much play can you expect from a real-time modern combat game that has nigh every platform in use from 1946 through 2020 with a built-in editor for anyone to create scenarios and offers the whole world as your palette? Hmmm... [:D]

I was planning to buy Civil War II on day 1, but I've moved it from "must have" to "must have eventually", so, hopefully, I'll be able to buy this game. Then I've got World in Flames and Red Storm coming up, too. I don't even want to think about it.

Even if this game has a hefty price, I think the price per hour of entertainment is going to be a bargain.

I'll be returning the favor getting Command. I've been waiting on it for a while and it looks very good! Only down side will be having no time to play it until the 8th of October or so. [:D]

Hello,

I have no suggestions on price. But I can tell you, serving as a beta tester, that this is the most accurate and flexible commercial simulation of air/naval modern warfare bar none - there is no comparison with any existing sims. I am amazed at its scope, from counter-terrorism operations all the way up to global thermonuclear warfare simulated with realism and painstaking attention to detail. Conflicts from the Korean War to modern issues such as the Senkakus, South China Sea, Strait of Hormuz, and Syria are all simulated or can be simulated with the tools provided. I was able to whip up simple scenarios with the editor quickly and easily -this game is a superb sandbox game as well.

As a beta tester, the one thing I can tell you is that the COMMAND Team is truly relentless in their work to make this the premier naval simulation - they are always responding to feedback and updating the game. It's the COMMAND team that has convinced me more than anything else that this game will be here to stay - they are the most responsive team I've seen.
The effort and attention to detail that has gone into this system are very impressive. As a retired naval officer, I can say that you will not find more detailed and realistic simulation modelling, at least in the public domain - I have looked long and hard and this game has no peers. I want the game to be a great success, not just because the team richly deserves it but because I want it to thrive so we can continue to play simulations that challenge our intelligence and decision-making skills into the future. This game is a downloadable Naval War College, and should be a must be for any amateur or professional student of modern naval or joint warfare - or any taxpaying citizen who wants to understand what he is paying for, for that matter.

MATRIX will figure out the price, but I can say that I have gotten more education and entertainment from this than any of the 50 other computer game I've played - so please give it a close look and don't base your decision solely on cost (unless its really cheap, of course[:'(]). This game will be something special - built by a coalition of the willing.

Neo, you should take the RED PILL..... [:)]

All the best,

Mark

I've bought four or five copies of the various Harpoon releases. I figure that's probably about $200 or more. I've beta tested a couple of the Command scenarios and I really like what I've seen. I just finished one yesterday involving a Soviet SSBN and escorting SSN's vs. a US Los Angeles boat. It was very tense. As good, if not better than anything I've seen in Harpoon.

I spent £30 on Rome 2 which is a bug ridden glitch fest! What a waste! Command right now is more stable.

I've had much more fun beta testing Command. Currently testing the small Falklands scenario and I was almost late this morning for work as the tension was so much. ROE is set to engage only when fired upon (as UK). That's a cruel level of stress! like a gunfighter who can't draw first, you have to hope you can react fast enough when the other guy shoots. I'm hoping sea king helos make good bait. If I can annoy the Argentine ships with some extravagant low flying.........I have some Harpoon missiles that need a new home ;)

This is really a good point Mark, and one of the main reasons why I'm interested in wargames.

I get the idea from reading the forms that the craters did this because, this is the type of game they like and not so much to get rich. If they happen to do both, then they would see that's a plus. It true many people will not buy the game if it gets to pricey. I typically have a rule. And that is not to by a game above $20.00. As I don't see games being worth any more than that. Well, that is unless it looks like I am going to be entertained more than a day or two.

Being a fan of games like this, that kept me busy for not just a few days, but months. I would say I may be one of the people to buy the game if priced higher. Which I am guessing it will be.

But lets face it. This game is geared towards a particular group of people, People who like deep strategy games, and care less about all the fancy high rez special effects who normally would buy a game at $60.00 pop. But with most of us having games like harpoon and other simulator games, being huge fans rarely buying a game at $60.00. Most of us have most likely saved up enough money that we saved from not buying other games. I am guessing, on day one, most people on the form will have a copy.

The only problem is if priced to high this type of games will most likely not bring into many younger game players who never played such games and are used to playing grand theft auto.

I would think if LBHarpoon is still $60.00, then this one probley, will be that much or higher-probley higher.  I wonder if they have change for a 100.[:D]

If the price is too high, I'll pass and just keep playing Harpoon UE. Bought Rome TW 2 for $60 and am now left waiting for patches that allow me to play. Also bought Civil War II and have to wait for a patch before diving in. It gets tiresome. To me top dollar pricing should mean top dollar quality from the start. Not saying this game isn't quality. I just don't want to spend top dollar only to wait weeks/months/years for the potential to be fulfilled.

I've held out on several purchases for the last couple months so that I can justify pretty much any price for this (as long as it isn't like $100). That said, I've blown $60 on more than one 5-hours-and-its-over console game over the years, so I think a little extra premium for something like this is worth it.

I'll be returning that favor as well. Might even get some scenario work to go with the gaming. Who knows.

That something I notice is becoming commonplace. It use to be that most games worked right out of the box. Of corse back then I think it was eeasier to program games and they had to get it right the first time, bbecause there was no such thing as a patch.

As time has gone by. More and more games had more and more bugs. Most had Bend fixed in days. Now, you get patch after patch on some games and they still don't work right. You may need to wait a year for their final patch to make the games work, if then at all. Just look at thr eentire line of "Supreme Ruler." They never fully fix some of the most talked about issues, they then stop patching. Only to release a whole new game based on the same platforms and the ends up having the sane issues And then some. This is why my personal rule is that games are almost never worth more then $20.00. All the frustration, waiting for patches, not to mention what I already talked about. Waiting tends not only to result in paying less. It means less headaches.

If it's above $20.00 and I hear about lots of bugs or bugs that just make the game unplayable. Then I can wait. But with them putting 10 years into it, I get the feeling that bugs will be small. So I will dish out extra for it if all goes well.

Normally I try to stay a couple of years behind the curve and wait for titles to bed down and some never get fixed or play to their potential. RED PILL will be different and first day one purchase for me in many years, a real gaming event.

All depends in the price, i know that game is great but even when i have the money i allways draw a red line in price maybe i can expand a little it if i have great interest in game and i can asume pay a little more to have the game early but is more the exception to the rule.

For me between 50-60 euros, taxes included, lets see.

EDIT: ummm i read about the discount for betatesters, 20 dolars, i am going to play Nostradamus role a little hehehe.

Lets see the 20 dolars discount for betatesters is the same that Matrix do in the Cristhmas special, 30%, this means that with out taxes game cost 66,666666 dolars but lets see 68 add to this taxes (i dont know what use here but lets see 25%) and we have 68+17=85 dolars 63 euros a little high but if i use excesive "negative" values for customers... we can see game around 60 euros not a little high but not bad at all.
