I am sandboxing the game as I go along to learn. This is just AWESOME stuff!

IJN Heavy Cover did it's job, was set to patrol the Kota Bharu hex (only) react 3. TF 85, with first wave KBharu invasion forces was unharmed.

All IJA Forces in the area bow and honor the IJN... BANZAI!

I would also add, that the Royal Navy, Force Z, performed as the professionals they are. The hard part will be making it back to Singers (to dewater then off to CT?) with all those Nells on search. Gives the PBI a reason to hold Singers... eh!

So why post yet another Combat Report? Because the wonder of it all, is that no matter how many times any battle is fought, over many AAR's, with so many variables, it will turn out differently each time. I love a knife fight...

You got better results, than I had, because most of the time my battles with Force Z were inconclusive. And MAN, 1000 yards is SOOO rare. I made a tests, and in around 100 engagements, I have seen they close to 1000 only 2 times.

Anyway, such close battle against Japanese torpedoes is sub-optimal strategy. You should try to keep distance.

As a mod, we have no way of knowing if this is representative of anything, but torpedo hits were equally split between the sides.

Hi, T!

My intent is to play the scenario H2H as a learning experience with the occasional rerun of a turn if sand boxing.

With regards to this particular battle, the only modding was the addition of type 21 radar for two IJN CA's, and duplication of existent ships - copied and pasted to artificially enlarge the IJN. Hence the "Takao R1" (Repeat 1).

While I am not particularly experienced or knowledgeable, it would seem that the even distribution of torpedo hits may have resulted from the unusual close proximity at start of battle.

Inquistor -

Using the Long Lance at night from a distance does seem to be the tactics of choice for the IJN.

Gents, thank you for your comments; I am always learning.

Mac
