Where is Northern India?

Post by Jorge_Stanbury »

question, according to the manual:

8.3.5 COUNTER INVASION FORCES
If ground units from one side or the other move into certain areas of the map they will trigger
various reinforcements for the other side to appear. The reinforcements that appear are
dependent on the area that is entered. These areas include:
Japanese Entry of:
»» Northern India
»» New Zealand
»» Southern Australia

At which Hex are the "frontiers" between North and South India?
same for Australia

These are all trigger lines that activate somewhat ahistorical re-inforcement packages if the IJ player is 'too successful'.

The one in India runs from roughly Delhi-Bombay, a little to the side. I've seen it displayed in AARs, but don't know how to display it myself. I wouldn't worry about these too much on either side unless Japan is pushing deep into India or Oz/NZ (NZ is just landing there, I think).

This Post has links to the threads that Bullwinkle did on each of the areas and what hex line triggers the reinforcements.
Just when I get the hang of a game, I buy two more... :)

From memory, one hex south (on the x,y grid, not compass true) of Delhi. And one hex south of Brisbane.

Note that on the game map Australia is very sway-backed due to the projection system so you must use the x,y system to judge the line. If you eyeball it you're going to be off. In particular, note where Perth falls on this line.

I was tempted to give the smart answer, but hey it was a gimme. [;)]

Oh since no-one else has I'll do it then. It is the region north of South India [:D]

Well that's a flawed map. It doesn't show either South India OR North India.

Bloody revisionist cartographers!!!

Well, apparently Mandrake is off solving another of the mysteries facing us all. He will reappear when you least expect it.

Sorry to get back to the OP in a moment of levity, but I found a map that was confirmed to be the Indian LOD.

You mean there's an Israeli city in India? Levity is my business. This forum is like whack-a-mole, I have to go around pounding down everything that pops up until everyone is left speechless.

I really don't think the player playing the Japanese would need to worry a lot about the Indian reinforcements at that point any more (China would also be probably overrun at that point).. If it's not tens of divisions.

I ask to be sure info I found are up to date:

Well, there is a wonderful and colored orange line in an image in the post but I don't get if actually taking Ahmedabad triggers reinforcements or not.

Another question that Bullwinkle answered long time ago is: does Socotra trigger those reinforcements? It has passed a long time and I don't want to trigger them invading Socotra or taking Ahmedabad.
