Ground units switching from Strat to Combat mode

Are ground units that arrive in a hex in Strat mode, and are changed to Combat mode, but have a delay displayed, considered to be in Strat mode or Combat mode in combat?

Strat, assuming the delay is more than 1. Someone more knowledgable than I will need to answer exactly when the delay gets counted down.

I would bet that if you're 'unpacking', you would get a penalty for that LCU in a firefight.

Don't know for a fact - but that's how I'd bet.

As long as strat mode is displyed for the unit - which is the case during the switchover delay - you get the op mode (-) penalty on ground combat and an increased vulnerability to air attack for that specific unit.

A unit in strat mode will still start moving in move mode if given the order to do so (just info for readers..)saves time
