I will take a look, but not play, I'm still running away from the IJN Carriers on the other Ironman.

BTW: There will be any trouble if I re-install the scen I'm currently playing?

Where can I find scenario 17?

Also, are there scenarios 15, 16, 18-20?

OK,
I loaded and installed Patch 7. I Loaded and installed all the diferent scenarios (1-15, 17-19) by downloading the AEdataupdatesxx.zip files as AEdataupdatesxx.EXE files and running them. They all ran sucessfully and showed files being installed.

I also reloaded Allied17.zip and moved the files to the SCEN folder.

However, I still get Scen 17 failed to load and I don't seem to have any scenario names for 15, 16, 18 or 19.

So, what am I doing wrong?

When you downloaded all the scen files from the Tech Thread did you right click each one ? The same goes for Patch 7. Got to right click to change the properties to an .exe instead of a .zip

I downloaded them by saving them as AEDATAUPDATESxx.EXE files, then running each one. I downloaded AEDATAUPDATES1 thru AEDATAUPDATES6, AEDATAUPDATES10 thru 15, and AEDATAUPDATES17 thru 20. I downloaded them into my SCEN folder and ran them from there. Each one ran successfully.

Should I have downloaded AEupdate1123h.zip, AEupdate1123j2.zip?

Where is the link to Patch 7 and should I load Patch 7 first, then the scenario updates, or does it make a difference?

Thanks

Can't run Scn 17.

Post by derhexer »

I downloaded, extracted and ran executables from AEupdate1123h.zip, AEupdate1123j2.zip. One of these created a new icon on my desktop titled War in the pacific ADmirals's Edition (Beta).

I still get scenario can't load when I try to run #17. I ran AEDATAUPDATES17.EXE and it ran successfullyt, but I sytill get scenario can't load.

So what am I doing wrong here??

(I did set it to have Allied Computer when I selected the scenario)

Thanks

Also, 15, 16, 18-20 scenarios don't show up on my list of available scenarios.

derhexer - Follow these steps from the Tech Thread.

EXE File "AEdataUpdateS1.exe" (after renaming from ZIP) installs the files into the root folder of AE, in my case

"J:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition".

It should install the files into the sub folder SCEN, in my case
"J:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\SCEN".

People not aware of this will not enjoy the changes, and may not even notice.

To correct:
Make the exe file either install the files directly into the right folder (SCEN),
or let it install the files into a temp folder and move the files manually to the SCEN folder overwriting the original files.
In any case heed Andy's advice to back up the SCEN folder before installing the changes.

To check: if you load the game and a saved game a message should pop up asking
"Add data base changes to this official campaign (#1)? YES/NO"
Only if answered with YES the data base changes are applied.

Thanks, Moonraker but I still can't get scen 17 to run. I get the message 'scenario won't load'.[&o]

When you run the installer it will by default place the scen files in to the main game directory and I suspect this is what has happened. Check your main WiTP game folder and see if you can spot the files in there. If they are just move them all in to the SCEN folder and it should be fine

Coastal Routing & Scn 17 RE: OK Allied Nasty

Post by derhexer »

I've been playing Scen 17. So far looks good. I sank the Saratoga at PH. Haven't encountered any extra ships or forces aside from Sara, but I'm only on 12/8.

BTW, what is Coastal Routing?

That is exactly what happened. I moved the files and the scenarios work now. Thanks!![:D]
