Some fictional ship art

Post by V I Lenin »

Hi, I sometimes play around with art for ships (usually I am thinking "I wish I had a ship here to move this unit", so I go and produce one...psychological condition?), so perhaps someone would like to use some of them for their own purposes. All essentially are modifications of existing ships, probably some technical things wrong with them and so on. No matter!

"Euro M Passenger/Cargo"

Surabaya style armoured ship. Probably it would not be very stable...

Image Image

Large BP tanker. I assume there is some reason old larger tankers seem not to put all the load forward like that, but since I do not know what it is...

Image Image

Small coastal freighter. Looks a little 'cleaner' than KPM ships etc. I think this is Euro M*Straits Small mutt ship.

Small passenger ship.

"Euro L Passenger/Cargo".

Empire L with passengers space. I think, those big windows are dangerous in war time!

Passenger ship. Originally this was modern American submarine tender...

Not bad at all, though that last one could use a bit more superstructure. And a bit less crane.

Yes, it is a little 'ugly duckling'.

Perhaps a little better like that.

Now, a non-fiction ship art!

After reading thread on plans for mods, I read about some ships mentioned. Apparently French old armoured cruiser Waldeck-Rousseau was in Indochina in 1942! So, I attempted to modify art of existing AC George Averoff to it. What do you think?

or, "with portholes closed" (it seems strange, to have such large openings in the armour?)

The Waldeck-Rousseau was not a combat ship in 1942, having been decommissioned in the late 20's. She was a habitation hulk.

I know, but I do not care about that :) . It is simply there for anyone who wants it.

Traskott is mentioning 'Furashita fleet' in other thread, so I think, "why not try to draw these". Thai 'Thomburi' seems like an easy place to start, as it looks like offspring of 'Takao'...

I maybe do another one later, or tomorrow.

Here is Japanese 'Chichibu'. Really, this is cheating, as it is simply Mogami with large turrets. But, since this makes it a very quick adaptation (c. 5 minutes)...
