Reserve activation

Post by STEF78 »

Summer time against Schascha.

I don't understand why my 8th Pzd wasn't activated during this battle

Image

8th pzd was 2 hexes from the battle

Image

His commander, 2 hexes above

And the Army commander

Image

Above are Von Kluge Ini 8, and Halder OKH Ini 6

What was the probability of non activating the reserve?
Should I disband LVI th corps?
Change OKH commander? Unfortunately Guderian is KIA
Place the Pzds under direct command of OKH (with Manstein or Model) and placing OKH close to the front?

Its not 100% more like 33% in most cases. So you should not be surpised if it did not react as it will only 1 time in 3. If you braek it down into 3 regiments you will get a reaaction almost 100% of the time.

The units need to be in same army at a min.

There are 3 ways to do it.

Divisions in same army;

1 - 3 infantry + 1 or 2 panzer units in same Corp. This set up is best used during GHC offensive operations.

3 panzers under the army HQ's in reserve mode and 9 infantry under 3 Corp HQ's, best set up for frontal assaults like Leningrad.

The set-up I use once I go on defensive is 9 infantry divisions and 3 panzers divisions under 1 Army HQ

7 to 8 hex frontage, with 1 or 2 infantry divisions rotating out to refit and 3 panzer divisions broken down into 9 regiments in 2nd row.

You will get 100% reaction for as many times as SHC will attack.

But what about armor rating for Army & Corps HQ Leaders, if it too low, how does it impact on armor unit CV?

The reaction is based of Initiative. The higher the better the chance.

In that one battle 1 regiment from that division would have easly won u the battle.

Thanks

I read in one of your AAR that you disbanded one corp per turn.

Why did you not do it faster?

Only so many support squads convert to rifle squads per turn. Support also adds to CV so you win in the end no matter what.

That was one game, the others I started disbanding them in April 42 by army north to south.
