A Christmas present. USS Massachusetts showed up in Panama. I never look at reinforcement schedules any more. It's just a tease. Plus, it is so much more fun to be surprised.

It is usally handy to know if a few DD's need to be there ahead of time to escort these prizes [;)] it is quite possible for the IJ to station submarines in the lanes where these platforms might show up on the map and ruin a perfectly good ship ... [8D]

Right, no DD. I sent her to Auckland via The Galapagos so JJ doesn't poach.

You need a HQ closer to the front like we do at Kandy House:

Boracay near Panay. We already have a company of paratroops on Panay. Nice.

Hate to tell you but ... framed between two trees near the centre of the picture, there appears to be the pagoda superstructure of a Japanese battleship.

We use DDT, it's quicker and cheaper.

***************Pranning, March 6, 1943(c)*****************

Taytay: No inbound JJ ships seen so the taffy unloading 2nd & 3rd Bn. 102nd Inf will stay on station. South Dakota is out of main gun ammo so she has to go back to Jolo where two 16,000 ton AE's will attempt a reload. Someone expalined to me once what criteria determine BB reloads but I promptly forgot the details. I think it was pushed out of available memory when I had to memorize Mandrake Jr.'s new cell number. IIRC it has to do with the size of the AE, the port size, naval support points at the base and something about a case of single malt Scotch. Newly arrived USS Denver and two DD's with full ammo will move to Taytay from Jolo as a security force. North Carolina will bombard Taytay tonight to attrit the ground troops and break some airplanes. The "easy" capture of Taytay is turning into a noisy affair. I should probably just air drop on Basuanga and build a field from scratch. Supply at Jolo just fell under 2x need so the drop tanks all disappeared. No LRCAP over Taytay today. Fortunately, it is 10 hexes from Davao so the Vals can't reach.

Mindanao: Dadjangas airstrip finally ready. Some P-40's will fly from there to provide better coverage over ships making the run to Jolo and back to Ternate. 22nd Marine and part of a US Army Regmt headed for Davao. USMC tank bn and 8th Marine headed for Cagayan.

USS Washington arrived safely at Ternate. She is in pretty good shape except for some 20 mm batteries topside. I am going to use her once to bombard Manado even in her current state. A queue of damaged DD's and CL's headed for Darwin.

What's your suppry rever at Joro? Do you have suppry roaded on the AEs? A 16,000 tonner, in addition to making a spectacular fireworks show when torpedoed, should be able to rearm main battery ammo on your puny 16" guns.

Suppry rever at Joro rearry crappy but staff officer from Suva send them over arready roaded. Also AD has suppry. I think maybe 1 or 2 reroads of 16 in magazines prus torpedoes for destroyers.

A PT boat with a full gas tank and a full ammo load could have stopped the Norman invasion in 1066.

I took the dogs out and they nearly dragged me across the street to sniff the lower branches of the neighbor's Christmas tree which he had dragged out to the curb. He has two male dogs. He might want to steam clean the carpet. [:D]

Extremely nice guy, especially for a lawyer. [:)] He doesn't practice law anymore. He works for the guy up the street. They charge large fees to protect business owners from the EPA. You may draw your own conclusions about voting practices in the household.

It's a conundrum/Catch 22, isn't it. They hate the EPA but they love the income it generates! So would you vote Republican [less government interference] or Democrat [keep the EPA and earn lots of money fighting it]?

I might propose that a conundrum is a puzzle of a deeper nature like if there is a God that loves children how can he let children suffer so? .. rather than describe a situation where a values conflcit is resolved on the side of profit .. I might suggest more of a Milo situation than Descartes [:'(]

Malpractice is the other hot topic with similar contrasts in values ... I always wondered how insecure a Malpractice Trial lawyer feels when they are being whisked away in an ambulance [8D]

Here is an old but good one:

Democrat Franklin Roosevelt was the first of eleven presidents Republican Bob Hope entertained. The commander-in-chief loved the comedian on the big screen and appreciated Hope's efforts entertaining the troops during World War II. Their paths crossed when Bob emceed a dinner in the president's honor, a few months before Roosevelt won an unprecedented fourth term in 1944. In front of a crowd of luminaries, Hope told a story about a Marine in the South Pacific who was disappointed that he had not encountered an enemy combatant. At the edge of a jungle, with his gun at the ready, he shouted out, "To hell with Hirohito!" A Japanese soldier emerged from behind the trees. "To hell with Roosevelt!" But the Marine lowered his weapon. "Darn it, I can't shoot a fellow Republican." The president threw back his head and laughed so hard Bob later said he almost considered voting for him.

Btw, please change the "RE:" line. Each time the 'Last post' column reads "RE: Hot Asian Action (mostly .." [snip due to small screen size] it is just - irritating...
