I just recently purchased a new ASUS w/Windows 8, Intel CORE i7,8.00 GB, 64 bit (no pen or touch input on display). Loaded WITPAE latest version and it runs too slow to be playable. Screen scrolls too slowly and commands take 10 to 15 seconds to complete. Game is NOT playable on Windows 8. Any word on a fix or upgrade?

I had exactly the same problem with WITPAE, but was able to fix it by switching the game to Windowed mode. Now it works just fine!

Finally got around to trying SPWAW. It's works and there are no color issues; although, you still have to click a few times to get the artillery to work.

how do I the game screen longer please

Through the use of switches:
tm.asp?m=2792983

Create a desktop shortcut of "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe". In this example I add the switch for full screen (-f) with a resolution of 1920x1080 (-px1920 -py1080)

Did you have to do anything special to get JTCS to work. It seems to install OK. No errors. Then nothing. No desktop shortcut zip.

I appreciate anything you can offer to help. Love that game!

Panzer Corps is working fine with no setting changes.

Thanks in advance

Windows 8? I wouldn't even bother to pirate that thing! I'd say go with windows 7, they are the same architecture, so in essence the same operating system, windows 8 is just supposed to have better ram and cpu ussage, which won't help you anyway untill vendors update their softwares.

Hello all

New to the site and I'm very enthused to play some of these old games I remember fondly!

That said I'm running Windows 8 on my PC and I note that the specs on most games run through Windows 7. In viewing the thread I note that many games have been tested and seem to run perfectly fine in Windows 8 but I had two in particular I was hoping to get verification on before I ponied up the cost of download.

John Tiller's Battleground Civil War

Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge

Many thanks in advance if you're able to provide verification one way or the other!

Howdy - can't vouch for John Tiller's Battleground Civil War, but John Tiller's Campaign Series runs fine - I'm running Win8 Enterprise. (note I work for Microsoft, but all opinions are my own).

Thanks wesy.

I purchased the Civil War game Wednesday and have been playing it each day. As good as I remember it.

The music files will occasionally stop as well as the video files but the basic game itself runs like a champ on Windows 8.
