Warspite1 (Entente) Vs Orm 2 (C. Powers)

Post by warspite1 »

Its the United Kingdom vs Sweden in this AAR.

Turn 1 - 23rd July 1914

Central Powers
The Ormster opens with a standard 3-Infantry attack on the Serb Garrison 2 hexes west of Belgrade. Wipe-out [:(]

Entente
In response Crown Prince Alexander gives Field Marshal Putnik a stirring pep talk... whereupon the Serb army sit on their collective behinds.... no seriously I forgot to move my Garrison near Nis [8|]

Turn 2 - 30th July 1914

Central Powers
I think Orm is going all out for Belgrade - no attacks but plenty of AH movement around the capital.

Entente
I move my Garrison north like I should have done last turn - I hope not too late - and then wait for developments.

Turn 3 - 6th August 1914

Central Powers
Clever move Ormster [&:] It wasn't an attack on Belgrade, instead the AH moves on Nis. My forgetfulness is punished already....

In Belgium, Liege gets pounded into oblivion.

Entente
Angry with myself, the Serbs attack Sarajevo and take a point out of the Garrison there. I also smack the AH Garrison nearest Belgrade with a 4-0.

Not happy that I haven't done anything stupid this turn, I then move my armoured car out of Antwerp. I wanted to follow-up an attack by my Brussels Infantry but the odds are too great.....

I move spare French Armies north to plug the gap north of Verdun.

I was to cautious to launch an all out attack on Belgrade. I probably should have but instead I tried to manouver to get in better positions. Bah!

Turn 4 - 13th August 1914 (cont)

Warspite orders the French to take up position south of the Seine and at the same time launches a number of rubbish attacks to try and stall the rampant hun!

The British Army meanwhile head for the boats to France and the Garrison in Egypt heads for Gaza.

Turn 5 - 20th August 1914

Central Powers
The Germans push west at a rate of knots, removing the last Belgian from the game and threatening Paris itself.

The AH Army are making a concerted effort to take Nis, while in the East Warsaw has fallen to the Germans.

Entente
In response the Russians try and group their disparate armies together, the French are a shambles and the British are still stuck in the Channel [X(]

Turn 6 - 3rd September 1914

I've just realised a problem with posting screenshots... Orm can see my units!!

I think AAR's are a bit dull without piccys so I'll have to think about that one.... may be post the AAR a few turns behind?

Anyway. The Germans have continued their relentless pursuit of the French and the Russians. In the west Rouen has fallen to the grey hordes, while in the East they push on Brest-Litovsk.

Meanwhile at sea, A German sub has taken 2 infantry points in the Channel, while in the Adriatic the AH navy has sunk a French cruiser.

Ouch!!

Well if you post the same AAR in the same thread that can be a problem yes, you can either post it with a delay, or you can black out those units you do not want Orm to see. Usually opponents stay out of each others thread, taking a peek is considered cheating... well depending on the game really, it's not always considered as cheating.

Nice AAR - one question: Is there diplomacy in this game? Any ability to influence neutrals?

Diplomacy can only be influenced by your actions on the field. Some examples:

Sink too many British and French convoys and the American's will join the Entente faster.
Be the first nation to use the gas technology, and all nations which are considering joining your enemies will join faster. Neutral nations favourable to your alliance may also delay their declaration of war.
Declare war on Turkey early and... well, I won't spoil that one for you [;)]

You can read a bit about these effects by reading the descriptions in the diplomacy panel.

There should be an option to turn gas use on or off. As it is currently, it is more or less a matter of who researches it faster. You can't stop useing your artillery just because you researched gas...
