Hi
Bought FOG yesterday, When trying to update the download gets to 100% then I get the message

File1- an error occurred when downloading information from the server

Have tried 3 times, even uninstalling and re-installing the game, but same result

any help would be very much appreciated

Sorry you are having problems. Can you try downloading the file from the downloads section instead.

I tried that but it didn't work either, do I need to install updates prior to 1.8 as well?

This is a bit strange. The download page always works as its just a file on a server. There must be an issue with your connection or your machine. This is just a dumb file - there is no way it can fail other than a loss of connection. All patches are cumulative so all you need is this one. What is the file size after downloading? What is the new error message and it cant be the original one as that comes from the updater.

I have uninstalled and re installed game, I downloaded the update 1.8.1 287mb zip file

ran update and on starting game get black screen with this message

This is a very odd error - can you tell us your graphics card and OS. This error shouldn't be possible but it clearly is happening for you.

Pc is a Cyberpower systems purpose built gaming machine purchased March this year

OS - Win 7 64bit home premium

graphics - dual 2 x 1gb GTX 560 16x NVIDIA

memory 8gb Kingston pc 1600 DDR3

CPU - AMD 8 core FX-8120 - overclocked by supplier

MBoard - Asus M5a99x EVO AMD 990x crossfire x chipset SLI supported

I presume by the lack of response that you dont know what is causing this error, am I stuck with a game that cant be updated or is there a solution to this problem? help appreciated

Sorry for the late response. The engine is in redevelopment. The old code has been thrown away and developed from scratch. This means any bugs in the old code cant be fixed right now but we hope to release a much better version soon. The beta will be starting in the next few weeks. Anyone with the current version will get the new version for free.
