group upgrade

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

group upgrade

Post by CV Zuikaku »

Hi all!
Is it possible to prevent groups from automatically upgrading to another plane??
It just drives me crazy. Groups just upgrade and I don't want that....
Thanks in advance!

Hijack alert.

This post has absolutely nothing to do with your question. Actually, I have been wondering the answer to the automatic upgrade question myself. I'd like to let some of my P-47 squadrons keep their aircraft instead of converting to p-51's. I love the sturdiness and firepower of the Jug. I'll absolutely need P-51's for their additional escort range, but for targets that don't need the Mustang's long legs, the P-47's are great.

Anyhow, about the hijack...

I stumbled across the following photograph by accident, and I'm really glad I did. You probably have seen it, but on the off-chance that you may not have, I am going to post it. It may be the most remarkable photograph I have ever seen.

Yes, my crew really liked me [:D]
Thank you, I've seen this photo before. IMHO one of the most remarkable WW2 photos [&o]

So it seems there is no option to turn automatic upgrades off?! That is really annoying.
When I try to stockpile some aircraft type, the game just uses it and upgrades.
And it do not upgrade the unit I want. It sometimes upgrades frontline units I need and DO NOT WANT to upgrade.
It upgrades units I do not pla to upgrade.
Then I have to downgrade unit again to my prefered type- and then the game will again upgrade it on it's own.
Is there any known workarround of this problem?

I thought there was a way.

You would have to turn off computer control of your reinforcements. etc. for your side.

There isnt. The only way to do it is to change the group type to something else, then change them back. They'll stick with that type forever then.

Word of warning - some custom upgrades (Wilde Sau to Day Fighter) - will no longer upgrade.

It's another thing on my very extensive to-do list... a global button, and an individual unit button.

But we can still upgrade unit manually after that??

So, if I want some unit to stick with Re2001s I have to switch to some other fighter (G.50) and then again to Re2001s? In the same turn? Or do I have to wait for next turn??

yes, you can always upgrade manually.

and yes, do it in the same turn, but your old AC will go into transport, then come out, so it will take 2 days anyway.

Why some groups can not be upgaded to anything that is worth something?! Some of German JGr-s equipped with D520s can not be upgradet to FW-190s or Bf-109s. And they are german units. some italian units can not be upgraded to veltros or centauros. There are also loads of hungarian, croatian, romanian and bulgarian units that can only be downgraded to some worthless models but not to Bf-109s?! Why?!

You can upgrade them to Bf-109Gs when you have at least 500 Bf-109Gs in the replacement pool. And after you have upgraded them to Bf-109Gs then they can be upgraded normally.

That would be all G types together or specific G type?
I terminated 109 production so I don't have any specific G type in such numbers.
Does "Ga" type counts as G type?
Thanks [:)]

Only Bf-109G-6 count (as far as I know).

Beware that you need no production at all of Bf-109G-6 to reach 500 of them in the replacement pool. Enough production of Fw-190 does the trick because you will then reach 500 by just replacing Bf-109G-6 with Fw-190.

If you no longer have the time or inclination to work on the to-do list perhaps you should get some help or pass the torch. Even releasing what has been done so people see the game is still alive would help.
