Placard by models...

It's a bit blurry on the side by side comparatives, but you can make out most of it...

A skyraider (I'll guess a A-1 variant) and a RF-9 Photo Cougar.

My favorite jet aircraft. She wasn't the fastest, the best dogfighter or even very practical with non-folding wings, but she's got some nice lines...a real beaut. [8D]

See if the smart readers of this forum can tell me who she is...

I'll guess it's the Nimitz (cvn-68). Also based there are Regan (cvn-76) and Vinson (cvn-70).

Yup. The wing on the left of the image is to the former, the camera-equipped aircraft is the latter. [&o]

Hey Steve-o. Check out post 17. Pretty sure the one with the superstructure scaffolding is the Carl Vinson (CVN-70).

Vinson just finished a long overhaul at Bremmerton. I wouldn't think it would another so soon. [:)]

Imagine the nerve. He actually demanded to see my "ejector seat card". [:D] One of my best friends (I'd been his "sea-daddy" in P-3's) transferred to S-3's and was constantly trying to get me a ride. Never succeeded. [:(]

Went to google earth to check out the location. Two carriers tied up across the bay from the Midway I could make out 76 on one and it looked like 80 on the other but I don't think we have built her yet. The fun part is when I zoomed in to see her number better, she disappeared! The pic was replaced with one showing the piers empty.

Uh Oh, must've gone back in time to fight Pearl Harbor again. [:D]
