recon reports there are roughly 15,000 enemy troops at the base but I am sure that the actual numbers are far lower... doesn't really matter, we should be able to keep the base more or less unsupplied and reinforcing it should be impossible, even more so since the IJN lost a couple of carriers near New Caledonia...

Cuttlefish surprised us with LRCAP over Lae today, the Zeroes are coming from Rabaul, range 9... how 56 fighters can be over the base on LRCAP from such a range is beyond me as there were only 3 IJNAF units involved... we take insane losses today, flying a couple of hexes from Port Moresby to Lae and in the end more than a monthly replacement of B-17 is lost to the Zeroes...

one of the perfect examples for JFBs that show how indestructable Allied 4E are... my squadrons are trashed from one attack an morale is completely pummeled... 56 Zeroes wouldn't even carry enough 20mm shells to cause the loss of 18 B-17E but some ppl probably think a Zero could score with 50% of it's cannon ammo...

this strike suffered a 37% loss rate, makes the Schweinfurt raid looking like a cakewalk, that had to fly over more or less whole Germany facing halve of the Luftwaffe with their fighters bristling with cannons...

guess it's been weeks since the Imperial Guards div suffered horrendous disablements from landing at Sabang instead of landing at a friendly base and the Dutch are still holding Langsa against two IJA elite divisions that don't even attack... I really don't understand Cuttlefish's operations...

with the defeat at New Caledonia the Japanese can bury all their thoughts about any more offensives and with our troops preparing for offensive targets already Cuttlefish has to soon switch to succesful defense otherwise he will be overrun so the time window he has got now to prepare his defenses is becoming smaller and smaller...

the enemy is trashed once more, nothing left with any combat value... we will pursue the IJA units to Koumac and will finish them off together with the unit that is reported sitting there... when the IJA units are destroyed the New Caledonia operation will see a succesful end...

Nice work! Do you think there's any chance CF will try a "Tokyo Express" to rescue some of his troops?
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

don't think so. The IJA div is in such a bad state already it wouldn't make much sense and my Navy/airforce is dominating the Sea around New Caledonia which would make it quite dangerous for any fast transport attempts. With the ability to "buy" destroyed units it is not as important as in WITP to safe a fragment of important units.

now look at that! [:)] The single unit that was reported at Koumac is another regiment of 53rd Division... that´s nice and odd at the same time as we are not only going to kill full 20th Division but also 2/3 of 53rd Division and I once again just wonder about force composition of Cuttlefish's operations... as in the past, he comes in without any support troops and this just doesn't make sense at all to me...

the way he is doing this he is just asking for punishment... that rgt was the only unit here with some combat value remaining but it had no chance against my Army and Koumac falls easily...

to start with, doing just a little recon over Noumea would have been enough to avoid the whole disaster as this should have told the IJ that I got more than just some useless base forces on the island... then employing a carrier group that missed two of the big fleet carriers without having built up the bases nearby to use LBA while knocking out my airfield at Noumea asked for an Allied reaction (even though I miscalculated the total number of IJN carrier based ac by 100) and then there is a full Div plus two rgt of another div coming ashore at Koumac without any support while the base would have a nice potential to build a usable airfield in no time which he didn't do either... like I've said before, I can't say it was more of a good Allied operation as it was a flawed Japanese one that lead to all these losses...

we attack Koepang again today as recon only spotted two dozen fighters there (which proves to be spot on it seems) and first I wasn't really afraid to see 27 Zeroes that should by far not all be able to intercept my bombers with a pre warning time of only 9 min but this proved wrong... the B-17 formation was badly shot up, losing 7 bombers in this strike...

must be another example of unbeatable strong 4E... disaster over Lae, disaster over Koepang today with a handful of Zeroes downing no less than 7 B-17... the Zeroes that were able to attack the bombers would be hard pressed to down 7 B-25 in real life, no one could dream about taking down 7 B-17 but it's probably just my copy of AE, IJ players report of hundreds of advanced fighters not being able to down 3 B-17 in one attack...

the bombers in return claim 15 fighters but that is pure overclaiming... even if we would down fighters at 2:1 we lose 2 weeks B-17 replacement for probably not more than 2 days Zero production...
