KB is 3 hexes to the east of Lord Howe Island and heading northwest, I'm guessing he's going to bomb Brisbane next turn unless he suddenly turns west and guns for Sydney again. I've got a bunch of S-boats that just completed refit at Townsville, going to bring 'em down to see if I can place a couple in KB's path.

Also, the US CVs are back in action this turn, the TFs are formed up and will steam SSE, was thinking of raiding Truk but I'll have to see if KB is still hanging around Aussie waters in a couple of turns.

The Brit CVs now number 3, Illustrious, Formidable and Indomitable. They'll probably steam for Oz once I get everyone together.

Oscars on CAP over Patung (which is now a level 1 airfield) are swept aside easily by the AVG before the CAF bombers visit. Am burning supplies flying sorties but I don't know how seriously CTG is about using Patung to unhinge my defensive lines so I have to keep the pressure up.

The IJA LCUs are Lanchow have been surrounded but the Chinese units there are a little too fragile to try a shock attack so they'll be steadily worn down by repeated deliberate attacks. Mouseover indicates that at least 2 units out of the list below have moved east out of Lanchow as of the current turn, I have a corps east of Lanchow so that unit will do a deliberate attack as well on the next turn.

There was another engagement involving P-40s in China during the turn so I can't be sure how well the P-40s did here as I didn't break down the numbers Tracker gave out for the turn, but yeah I guess they did better than I hoped for against KB's flyers.

Patung bombed again, no opposition in the air. One of the IJA divisions has moved west of Patung and is continuing west. I expect it would be extremely difficult for him to supply his 4 divisions in the area as it is so I do not know what intends to accomplish by striking out from Patung, I'll elaborate more on the situation here the next turn as I forgot to take a screenshot, would make things easier to understand.

The Chinese LCUs at Lanchow will shock attack the next round, time to end this.

KB heads NNE and misses my line of S-boats by a couple of hexes, the S-boats don't have the legs and speed to do a stern chase so they will disperse and take up positions in the Solomons chain right up to Rabaul as originally planned.

A lean month ahead as the only reinforcements of note are Long Island (probably use her to train Marine squadrons for carrier ops) and CLAA San Diego. In the air, I will get another BG coming in at CONUS while a second FG comes in at Aden, it will join the 51st (currently training in Calcutta) in the CBI theater. Monsoon rules come into effect in the middle of this month so that will definitely put a crimp on ops in the area.

Mod Corner and wrap up of the war to date
CTG commented on how the 30% drop in cargo caps is slowing his operational tempo down a fair bit and it shows, he hasn't come down further down the Solomons chain from the Shortlands and I'm wondering if his concentration of assets on getting the invasion of Oz going will cost him in the long run.

As for the Allies, I don't really have much to move around at this moment so I'm not feeling it as much as he does and I pretty much told him as much. To give you an idea, Suva is awash in fuel (110k+ with 2 fuel convoys still to unload another 80k fuel) and supplies (78k) and Noumea (61k supply, 53k fuel) is doing well, Oz is good on supplies but running on empty for fuel (only 63k fuel for the whole country) but that's more a result of KB disrupting the supply train more than my inability to push fuel forward. With KB moving out of the neighbourhood I expect the first fuel resupply convoy to unload at Brisbane in about a week's game time. Supply levels just about everywhere else in the Pacific are healthy.

Ship losses have been acceptable for the most part(at least in my mind), freighter type losses while significant in terms of hulls lost are bearable where tonnage is concerned, out of the 98 freighter types lost only 23 were above 4,000t. What bites more is the fact that I've lost 2 precious APs and 12 large xAPs, smaller pool of those to draw from but the jury's still out on whether my ability to move personnel is drastically affected. I've also lost 6 medium/large TKs and 7 AOs so I'm a little more leery of exposing them to any potential enemy action, especially the AOs.

As for warships, most of the losses were sustained in the initial 3 months of the war so that's good. On the flip side the IJN is very much intact so that's not so good.

On land, the theatre I'm most concerned about is China, supply shortages and the relative weakness of the Chinese army compared to the assets the IJA has in theatre is giving me headaches. Elsewhere I'm confident of holding Oz if he comes for me and I'm looking to reinforcing Guadalcanal and taking Tabi back as my goals through till end '42. I'll update with screenshots if I don't feel too lazy about it.

Patung is about to be surrounded, thing is, CTG probably has enough AV to punch his way out as the hexes east Patung are lightly held, I have 2 half strength corps in Patung itself and another one moving in from the southwest hex. At the very least I'll maul a division badly as it breaks out back towards the east across the riverside so it's all good.

The AVG is engaged by Oscars and it's 7 vs 5 in favour of the Oscars in the air.

I lose 4 xAKs and 2 PCs on the Perth-Darwin route when I forget to set them to hug the coast and Netties get to them.

Milne Bay and Tagula Island are invaded. If he builds up bases here thru to PM he'll be able to cover a fair bit of Oz's east coast as well as see me from miles away if I initiate any offensive action in the direction of the DEI or towards Rabaul from the SOPAC islands. The Solomons could be the stage for a major furball in the later half of '42 and early '43.

The British get on the killboard and it's courtesy of Truant, on patrol in the Straits of Malacca, she takes down an AS, the fact that the AS was heading into the Indian Ocean is of concern, at the very least I expect increased sub activity in the IO which to date has been non-existent, at worst this could be a prelude to increased IJN *and* IJA activity although that's a little bit of a stretch considering CTG has quite a few assets in the DEI for what I presume to be the invasion of OZ although that seems to be becoming less likely as we march into mid-1942.

It's been a little crazy in the real world and quiet in this one so I beg forgiveness in the brevity of the reports. Things are beginning to settle down and I hope to be a little more regular with the updates.

SIGINT
16th Division is planning for an attack on Darwin.

Don't know how serious CTG is in invading Oz but he's leaving it awful late if he still intends to do so. I'm planning a smash and grab elsewhere if he does come for Oz.

SWPAC
Katherine has been the visited by Netties the past couple of days, they've been preceeded by Zero sweeps and I don't see the point of wasting valuable airframes and pilots against the cream of the IJN, would rather conserve my assets for the invasion when it happens.

The big news of these past couple of days would be landings at Tassafaronga and Lunga, so there goes the plan for reinforcing the islands. There's upwards of 13k troops on Lunga so I guess he means to stay.

There's also a troop convoy at Tabi which is still a dot base, at least half a dozen xAPs, I'm tempted to blitz it with my CVs but KB was spotted on 9 May just west (true) of the Hebrides so I'm little leery of sticking my neck out with trouble just around the corner.

Burma
Increased recon activity over Lashio and SIGINT points to an imminent attack. Units of the IJA have been spotted on the move towards Lashio. I have the 1st Burma Div in Lashio proper and the 7th Armd Bde and a Chinese corps is just 1 hex out in a bid to mask the additional strength I have in the area, no moves yet on Mykitnananana that I can see. There's an Indian Division stationed there and I have 2 more Chinese corps just across the Chinese border waiting to be bought out with PPs once the music starts.

Oh and monsoon rules come into effect on 15 May, should be fun trying do anything then.

P-39s covering Darwin and Katherine have tangled with Zeroes and Netties with mixed success. In one unescorted raid on Darwin, P-39s took down 20 Netties (hey, how about Bellies for a shortcut?) while in instances where the Zeroes were present the defenders usually came out a little behind, although given the disparity in terms of pilot quality, anything less than a 2:1 in favour of the IJN has got to be a bit of a blow.

Supply-wise it's a mess in north Oz, there's a trickle coming in from the south through Alice Springs up through Tennant Creek but not enough to support what I have up there.

There's a stack of IJA units just south of Kweilin, I'm assuming he's going to have a go at it as detection levels there indicate he's been looking at it for a while now. Am moving an army from nearby Liuchow and another one from up north near Chungking to reinforce the place. The rest of this front is static for now, the northern flank with Lanchow is quiet since I ejected that 5 brigade force a couple of months ago, the approaches to Sian show only 1 LCU guarding the road to Nanyang and the MLR is clear with the exception of Kweilin.

Burma
Monsoon rules go into effect.

- From 15 May to 15 October each year (Monsoon Season) offensive operations in the jungle and mountain hexes on the Burmese front (everything above “Thailand” label within Burma and Thailand borders plus the few jungle hexes going 3 or 4 hexes into “India” – Kohima, Ledo, Imphal area) is highly restricted:
- No shock or deliberate attacks in jungle hexes within the area;
- Deliberate attacks allowed in non-jungle hexes;
- Bombardment attacks allowed everywhere;
- Movement into friendly/empty hexes allowed
- The percentage of aircraft allowed to fly from an airfield in this region during this time is a factor of its size*10% (so an air unit flying from a level 2 airfield can only fly 20% of its aircraft, and must set Rest to 80%)
- No carrier aircraft strikes on Burma from the Gulf of Bengal during this time (however, carrier aircraft can still strike Bengal, Northern India or Malaya from carriers in the Gulf of Bengal)

SWPAC
The USN CVs go into action next turn against the supply convoy unloading at Tabi, the airfield there just turned operational and Tabi just seems vulnerable right now jutting so far out from the Marshalls. I was also torn between keeping their location from him and taking out some merchies on the cheap but decided in the end that I need to start opposing his actions at some point rather than just giving him a free ride.

Sub War
CTG is using some of his boats to mine the approaches to Suva, wasting mines like that in open water is bordering on the futile imo but it's his mines.

In other news
The 23rd FG arrives in Aden, the CBI theatre now has 2 complete US FGs in addition to the Brit fighter complement, coupled with the building of the Burma-Indian border airfields to level 9 I'm feeling pretty confident about taking on the IJAAF.

15th Army is planning for an attack on Lashio.
15th Ind.Mixed Brigade is planning for an attack on Lanchow.
1st Raiding Regiment is planning for an attack on Fenton.
3rd Division is planning for an attack on Chungking.

Mixed bag of intel these past 2 turns. Looks like I was wrong about Lanchow being left alone for the rest of the war. Fenton is just south of Darwin and a dot base at the moment, so I'm assuming prepping a parachute unit for it means he's going to try and cut me off from the rear either before or after the initial landings.

CENPAC
Unfortunately CF that dance didn't come to pass, with my impeccable timing I arrive for my date only to find out everyone had left hours ago.

Sub War
Lots of misses on both sides these 2 turns. At least 4 I-boats are in the waters around Suva. They're a little too close to shore to be effective, land based ASW is picking them up during the day pulse.
