Pentagon II [ CLOSED ]
Pentagon II: Sticks and Stones
An ATG scenario for five players
Each player sits on one side of an imaginary five sided table (Pentagon). A player's place at the "table" is determined randomly.
You win the game when the two players opposite you (ie not adjacent) at the "table" are eliminated. They are considered to be your enemies. Players adjacent to you at the "table" are not necessarily your friends, as your goals will conflict with theirs.
Your position at the "table" has no bearing on your actual position on the game map. Turn order and "table" order are the same.
Example - Players are sitting around the "table" in the following order: Adam, Barry, Clyde, Daniel, and Edward.
Adam wins if Clyde and Daniel are eliminated.
Barry wins if Daniel and Edward are eliminated.
Clyde wins if Adam and Edward are eliminated.
Daniel wins if Adam and Barry are eliminated.
Edward wins if Barry and Clyde are eliminated.
The game is over when one player acheives his victory condition.
You may NOT enter into an ATG alliance, but you may help or hinder other players as you see fit. Even though players adjacent to you at the "table" are not your enemies, you may declare war on them. (Sometimes sham wars are a great way to exchange cities. Or you may want to slow someone down who is close to winning.)
Why I like the idea of Pentagon...
1) Five players usually means I get to do one turn every other day.
2) No pointless negotiations and entagling alliances - you know who your enemies are from the beginning.
3) Some cooperation is possible.

Passwords (write them down!)
No formal alliances, and thus no tech or resource sharing. Informal alliances and non-aggression pacts are allowed.
Turn order (which is also the "table" order) randomly determined using the nomic.net dice server.
DropBox used for file transfer. You should check the DropBox daily to see if it is your turn. Some of us check the DropBox hourly. [X(]
Note: Pentagon is not fair. You may be placed far from your enemies, or right on top of them. You may be alone in a resource rich area, or not have any for miles around. You will have no real "friends" to help you out in this game. You are on your own.

RE: Pentagon II [RECRUITING]
Actually I don't think it is a good idea for that setup. THe rule is interesting but the map won't be as good as we think.
I have tried 20 times to create this map but each time there will be at least one nation in a small separated island. Without the support from other cities that makes this nation develops much slowly for the unbalance, which makes the player lack of ardour.

RE: Pentagon II [ONE SPOT LEFT]
It's been a while. If the last spot isn't taken, do we want to consider playing with four?
I guess that Pentagon aspect wouldn't work, but the rest of the options sounds good.

Ill play. I was thinking I was in to many games, but turns seem to have slowed up a bit with summer here. Should have plenty of time.

Does this mean that the e-mail address posted in Hatem's member profile is incorrect? All this time I've been thinking that he's just been ignoring me! [:)] On the other hand, if it is correct, don't tell me. My ego doesn't need a hit like that... [:)]
