A Reunion of Old Friends

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

I do get to watch the video.

Also, the esc key does not pause the replay for a PBEM game. At least it doesn't if you are the 2nd player.

I started the turn and then came here to post that it worked. I probably missed it and didn't see a replay button.

Turn back to you.

It just ran automatically for me.

Also, when you are done to send the turn you can name it. I named this one file 3. Since it was my second one.

Ok I watched the replay, need VCR/DVD controls in the next game to rewind etc, plotted my moves, saved as spartans4 and dragged it to your folder.

BTW during replay I pressed esc and got the popup that the game was paused.

I press esc and nothing happens. It seems, that the first time it plays through, for the 1st player, it will pause. But in the replay of the turn it won't pause for player 2. I'll try it again in a second.

For those looking to see how we do you can find the respective threads here:

tt.asp?forumid=161

They are the Spartans at Norderfurt threads. Those following my actions will look at the one that starts with MR and those wishing to follow how J2D does will look at the thread that starts with his nickname.

Enjoy.

Cracks me up that two old dinosaurs are playing a game, using dropbox to exchange files, and communicating with facebook.

Some things I see.

1) It takes way longer than 30 minutes for WP units to transition into assault mode. I put my tanks into assault mode and 3 turns later move my infantry. The tanks still haven't moved and my infantry isn't alive to complain about them just sitting there.

2) I can't tell my artillery what munitions to use. I would like some smoke but no way to ask for it. A FO describes the target and the mission when firing an on call artillery mission. I should be able to do that too.

3) It appears that I move things way too fast. I need to learn to slow things down and get better organized.

It was fun to play a human again. Been a while for me. I'm sure there is more to this game than we have learned so far. Gotta read the manual again.

Yes, next up for me is to read the manual again as well.

Need to figure out how to time attacks for one thing.

Good game. J2D beat me with a Tactical Victory! I was actually surprised it was that small considering how hard he hammered me.

I assume I got a TV because I held on to the 50 point area and destroyed enough of your units. To do better I think I would have had to venture out and take your point area.

Maybe we can find an ME where we both are moving and see how that effects the kill ratio.

Only area 12 has victory points for occupying the area. And I have nobody in there. You are the only one in there.

The far right number in the listing is for occupying the area. You get 50 for being there and I get 175 if I get people in there.

Moving out of there would get you no more points for controlling area VP's.

Unless I'm missing something.

Good Hunting.

I think you got it right. Somehow I was thinking that you had a sector with points to start with. I also notice that there is a field for handicap. That would probably help in some of these scenarios.

I could have created my own handicap if I could have gotten some men in Sector 12. Because I didn't you won. Simple as that.
