Lunacy on the net, forums, company

Post by wodin »

Sometimes the shear lunacy of people on the net is dumbfounding. Trolling is something I detest, also feuds and vendettas by people who really don't know each other at all, just faceless made up names. Trying to get people prosecuted for crimes on unsound circumstantial evidence is in my opinion not only bizarre but also very frightening.

Who else sometimes gets left with a bad taste in their mouths from forums?

The sad thing is these places are where alot of people who have no contact with like minded folks come to socialise and have a laugh. I for one enjoy the forums and they are abit of a lifeline as my only other company is my 11 year old daughter so it's good to find someone else to talk to about things I'm into.

I suppose it's a love hate relationship, the biggest gripe though is it does infringe on game time aswell.

Anyway I will say no more on the subject except it's good to be with friends even though you are all faceless avatars:)

A big shout out to those I consider good mates on here.

I feel the same way.

Unfortunately I am left with a bad taste in my mouth after my own postings. [;)]

Generally speaking the Matrix forums are all good natured. We all have an interest in wargaming and by and large we all get along.

Best wishes,

I popped in one evening at another forum that shall remain nameless, and I found it. . . distasteful.

We cut up here and have fun, and police ourselves quite well, I'd say.

I agree that we police ourselves well. One gigantic difference between this forum(well, any wargame) forum and any other is the lack of serious vulgarity. Yes, sometimes the mild hell and damn get tossed in for dramatic effect, but compared to just about all other forums we are a bunch of pre-schoolers. Just today I was reading a news story on a well known site and simply because people did not agree with the FACTS of the article they were throwing around every filthy word they could think of(tempted to say of which political persuasion they were...but self policing here).

Our only dangerous criminal, according to some, is SLAAKMAN. [:D][:D]

I think Matrix are a little too lax in their standards sometimes; I mean who the hell gave authoritah for nate25 to be allowed to post here?? [;)] Surely being an illiterate should preclude someone?

Come to think of it - so should having a hairy-backed wife!! I'm banning myself from the forum....

Yes - see the Grand Prix thread. Mrs W is a big follower of car no.3 as you can see. I've always felt more comfortable with long flowing locks like the footballers I so admire. And wearing a bra? Well it just feels right..er what are we talking about here?
