Those crazy miners

Post by Awaras »

I wonder if someone can explain this to me.
I installed the latest beta patch, and I am not sure if it caused this, but I never observed this before:
Image

While looking around the map I noticed a destroyer going to a system 3 sectors away from my empire.
I checked it out and saw that it is going there to escort a mining ship. OK, i thought, it probably
went all the way there to mine something extremely valuable, I might send a constructor to build a
mining base there... I take a look at what it is mining and it is LEAD?! Two of my colonies have
lead on them and i got 4 mining bases that mine lead among other stuff and all of them have a
healthy supply of it so there is absolutely no shortage. And besides, half a sector from my
homeworld there were a couple of unoccupied planets with better lead sources than the one the
miner went to.
What kind of AI sends a ship 3 sectors away (it will have to return on reserve power since it does
not have enough fuel for the trip back) to mine something my empire doesn't need?

Since in 1.7.0.10 changes were made to freighter AI, it might be useful to post this in the Tech Support forum and upload the save for Elliot to check.

This was not a freighter but a miner. Think it is relevant?

Ah, my mistake, sorry! [8|]

If you are able to reproduce the situation (do you have an earlier save?), I would definitely post it.

I think what BTJ is saying is that Elliot is not very artificial and very intelligent! [8D]

In other words he listens to our feedback and is willing to adjust the computer algorithms governing computer ship behaviour (change the AI in your language). Posting to the tech issues forum will bring this to his attention and who knows where it might lead. [:)]

The private sector is since Legend (and maybe before) not very smarte, i am not surprised about that.
But since we can't control the private sector the AI empire got the same trouble like the players, but the player can compensate that if he know the problems.

Only a complete overhaul of the private sector system can solve that problems.

The lead-tungsten is to supply the rail guns. Of the private sector rebels trying to over throw the evil dictator, Ie "Awaras." :)
