Latest Beta

Post by Cribtop »

Gents,

I'm looking for the latest beta patch but didn't find it in the member's area. I suspect it's in the beta thread but I want to make sure I get the right one.

Could someone please point me in the direction of the correct file? Thanks.

Oh yeah.  The UI is SO much better now.  Thousand of keystrokes are saved, and much more data is better associated on many screens.  Huge improvements.

One question: How do you run the beta in fullscreen mode rather than windowed mode?

You need to change the parameters in the shortcut. And if you want the autosave option you should copy the DLL and exe from the beta2 folder to the main folder.

[edit]I also backup the main exe and dll. Or you can use a mod swap util.

OK, I figured out how to run it in fullscreen mode, but the resolution is such that it only takes up about 1/3 of the fullscreen, which isn't what I'm looking for. So, how do you play it in fullscreen mode but change the resolution such that it looks like the pre-beta game?

You should have a new shortcut on the desktop.
Right click -> properties
In the target you can change the parameters as per the whatsNew.pdf
[edit]remember to click apply at the end. If you just want to get into full screen remove the -w option.
But honestly for max enjoyment(wide screen), speed & readability, you should look and find the combo that works best for you.

For the beta ? Just the notes from Michael... and there were some rumours of a manual update project. Don't know what happened to it.

Otherwise the what'sNew.pdf has all the switch configurations. You should at least once try widescreen.[;)]

What do you want to know ?

And the count everything 57 times and then arrange it all alphabetically, chronologically and cross-reference it all - and check that it has all been done properly - again, 57 times [:D]

Well, that's that settled then.

I use the following and it works for me: "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1920 -py1080 -altFont

Also remember that the higher resolution modes only affect the game map screens. The startup screens are still 1024 x 768 with big black borders.

Bless you young'uns w/peepers that still work!
Ihave a 24" monitor w/native 1920 x1200 res. I applied the -px -py settings at that level and , well.........It was a great view, but I couldn'd read a thing. Too small!
I changed back to 1020 x 768 res. It's much easier to read and play.......for old(er) guys.
I found the -altFont option is much easier on the eyes, also.
