Historical Grand Campaign

Post by Sapa »

Hi

I have some questions?

Where are the 3:rd battalion 1:st Para?

How in hell should 2:nd battalion 1:st Para reach the Arnhem Bridge on the evening on the 17:th Sep throught West Arnhem and North Arnhem with 9:SS Spindler arriving and moving on the first turn to Arnhem North and strong Bodenständige Einheit defending Arnhem Bridge?? You cant even take the Nort End!

But of course..its not an historical campaign just a campaign :/

Please guys.. i think you will have to rework the campaign....

The most direct route to the Arnhem Road Bridge map for 2/1 Para is directly from West Arnhem, not with the detour suggested through North Arnhem. Similarly, KG Spindler should move to Arnhem Road Bridge directly from its starting position at Velp.

The LSA Grand Campaign can be reworked in the scenario editor. Name it Grand Campaign and move the edited file from /Games/Battles to /Data/Campaign. If "historical" is your goal then Graebner's BG should be repositioned to start northeast of Arnhem. Graebner didnt cross the bridge southbound until 1800 hours on Sept 17th. Of course an 'un-historical' player could then choose to defend the Arnhem Road Bridge map with the entire 9th SS Recon Btn. before Frost and 2/1 Para arrive on the scene.

3/1 Para Btn is part of 1st Para Brigade, 1st Airborne Division (1/1).

Removed connection between Beek and Nijmegen Bridge. Now the 508 / 82 AB have to move throught Nijmegen to reach the bridge ;)

and been thinking of removing the Boden unit from the bridge map..the AB had to fight to reach the bridge not ON the bridge..

Removed Static BG from Nijmegen Bridge, reinforced Static BG in Nijmegen (you will never capture this without armour support from 30th Corps). You will have to wait or try to cross the Waal river to the west

Removed Static BG from Eindhoven, now the 30th Corps has a chance move north after fighting the Walkensvaard map and reach Son Bridge on Sep 18 (i dont think there was any heavy battle in Eindhoven?)

more to come;)

Static BG at Arnhem Road Bridge changed to Erzatz unit
Static BG at Arnhem Rail Bridge changed to Luftwaffe unit
Paul Gräbner moved South

Now there is maybe a chance for Frost to actually take the bridge, German reinforcements from North East delayed two turns

With 53 vehicles shown in his roster and force pool, and a hundred thousand requisition points available to buy an armada of PzVI reinforcements, you could call this mod Bittrich's Best Wet Dream Yet [:D]

It would be good to create a mod with the 1st Airborne division split into its seperate battalions. However there are not enough maps north of the Rhine to fit them on.
