Nice, that's very similar to how my Panzer 38(t)E's took out some KV-1E's. You really need to get close to those Soviet 1940's medium/heavy tanks in order to be able to do some damage, at least with early war tanks.

The StuGs should be able to penetrate the side of a T-34 with HEAT ammo from quite a distance, though.

Yeah, but it seems to me that these StuGs are very inaccurate at long range. Every time I try a long-range tank duel with them they either run out of ammo without doing much or just get destroyed. I just keep them somewhere behind my lines and rush them forward into point-blank range when a suitable armor target presents itself. After the armor threat is neutralized, I withdraw them into front-line fire support positions next to my infantry.

Aren't those short-barrelled Stugs? They should be inaccurate over long distances.

They're indeed not made for long range combat, but HEAT has only 1 penetration value I believe and it's generally pretty good. So if they're elite, perhaps with accuracy bonuses through awards/medals, they should be able to hit targets at medium to long range.

It was only their second battle, so they were merely veterans. By now they are elite with a couple of medals so I tried taking on a couple of BT-7s at long range (600m or so) last night. They each still took two or more salvos to destroy and I was beginning to take return fire, so I'm not at all eager to try it against a T-34.

Playing the 1st Panzer Division short campaign and the advance is going well in the 1st mission. As I advanced on the objective, my leading PZ-III takes a frontal shot from a Russian 76mm Infantry Gun. He survived the initial hit and after shrugging off the suppression attempted to back away and hide behind the building just to his left. He took several more shots as he backed away and was finally knocked out.

Nice review. It's good to step back a moment from testing a tiny aspect and enjoy the scenery again.

17. Major overhaul of all German infantry, including improved uniforms, equipment and
animations for many units.

Could anyone be so kind as to post screenshots of this new overhaul?

J2D,
Wow, these shots are really excellent. It is great what you are doing with the overhauls. They look fantastic.

+1 with RedCharlie65. I really like them.
