Soviet Bonus Admin Points

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Soviet Bonus Admin Points

Post by Michael T »

Does anyone know when Soviet bonus Admin points are received and how much you get each time?

The rules state that they get 125pts when a new front HQ is received and allude to other HQ bonuses but don't specify. On turn 21 I went from around 140 admin points to 410! I received the 1st Shock Army HQ that turn but no other HQ. So my question is for what HQ's do the Soviets get these bonus admin points and how many each time. Obviously if one can predict how many AP's you get in advance you can avoid wasting some by going over the 500 limit.

Any ideas?

As far as I know, new Front activation is based entirely on the date. I don't have the activation dates memorized, but if the AP dole-outs are tied to Front activation and Front activation is tied to specific turns, then it should be relatively easy to plan around that.

True for fronts but 1st Shock army is not a front. I received a bunch of AP's with 1st Shock army. I ran thru the turns to 2nd Shock army and got more AP's. Not the same amount though. I ran through to 3rd and 4th Shock armies and got zippo. So the problem is this: Extra AP's are received for some armies (fronts is known) but not all, and the amount is not consistant. It is not documented. So it seems the only way to be certain is to run through the turns (very labourious) or ask someone who knows. Anyone?

In that turn was probably North Caucasus MD transformed to Caucasus Front (+125AP)
I ran thru the turns to 2nd Shock army and got more AP's.
Volkhov Front arrived (+125AP)

Maybe for North Caucasus. But 2nd Shock and Volkhov are different turns.

The Moscow Defence Zone arrives on the same turn as 2nd Shock Army. I'll ask on the tester forum if it's supposed to give bonus AP's, as it's a military district HQ and the manual only mentions bonus AP's for fronts.

That just happened to me in one of my games & it was because the Caucasus & Trans Caucasus military districts changed to fronts

I've noticed i often get odd numbers of AP like 63 or 68. There's no way I leave any over at turn end. is this supposed to happen?

No, that's not supposed to happen. Are you sure you didn't put anything to static and are you 100% sure you ended the previous turn with 0 AP's?

Absolutely sure. I should have saves to demonstrate it, I'll have a look later.
