Annihilator I

Post by Perturabo »

I just learned that it was the name of the future tommy gun[:D].
It sounds like something straight out of an old weird science comic strip[:D].

I'm surprised the PC crowd hasn't jumped in and declared it an offensive name! [:D]

There was also a belt fed prototype called Persuader. Sounds like the names were chosen by the person which later would chose names for US aircraft.

I can see people asking what BFG means. [:D]

If you have one, they don't need to ask.

Apparently, XM-25 is being field-tested in Iraq and Afghanistan and it earned a nickname "Punisher" among troops.

Anyway, it's kinda sad that small arms don't get cool names like these. Just imagine WWII soldiers getting to use "Annihilators" instead of "Tommy Guns[:D].

That's the old OICW I think. Sounds like it's really a good thing to have in theater. I wonder why it's so much more effective than say a 30 cal with a slung 203 grenade launcher, but hey, at least they're getting something to fight with.

Here's to hoping it doesn't fall into enemy hands, or to foreign sales !
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.
