Things go mostly right:

Night Time Surface Combat, near Jolo at 74,90, Range 7,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
DD Shinonome
DD Shirakumo, Shell hits 9, heavy fires, heavy damage
APD Fuji
xAK Syoka Maru, Shell hits 5, and is sunk
xAK Rokko Maru
xAK Igasa Maru, Shell hits 4, heavy fires, heavy damage

Allied Ships
CA Houston, Shell hits 3

Still no landing on the PI though. And none in sight.
Any WJDs on board those ships?

Dec 18th.

Most of the troops in Malaya make it to Singers. The rest are moving to the NW to whatever that island is.

Interesting. He's obviously swapped out the 38th (unrestricted) for a restricted division. I expect it will be turning up shortly in the Southern aspect of the theatre.

Still nothing going on in the Phillipines?

Nada.

Personally I'd have used both at HK, then move on quickly.

Still no landings in the Philippines. The south and west are locked down tight, I'm thinking about trying to sneak some supplies in from the west. It's a long way from anywhere.

I am thinking you mean "from the East". Go for it! Midawy or Oahu then North of Marcus and bring it home. Ask for "volunteers". Scrounge up some 10 Kt. scowls and there you have it.
