Hey Gary, how's about a modernized HMAS Australia and ditto HMS Tiger and HMS Lion(the battlecruisers, if my meaning is in doubt)?

Do you have some art for a modernized Lion & Australia which you would like to see done. IIRC Wolf's Shipyard website has them I think.
HMS Tiger is already done, check post #40 in this thread (no less than 5 modernized versions to pick from).

Nice! Forgot about those.

Cool, I thought Wolf's had been taken down![:)]

Thank you ssquibb79.
Wolf's Shipyard is just a site with various drawings for never built ships. Most of them are based upon proposals that never went through or made it beyond the drawing board. Looks like the owner of the website removed most of the warship content. However, you can find most of his old stuff here.
Might be a good time to DL and store this stuff as I wonder how much longer it will be available. [:(]

Working on that, per your suggestion..

Now, does anyone want to work up the specs on the USS Wyoming, 1945...
12 - 20" Guns....
And how many armored divisions would not be built in its place!!!

I'm sure there is a highly complex mathematical calculation for that somewhere. Give me about 8 years to finish a Ph.D in mathematics and I'll have an answer for it! Or we could fudge a few numbers here and there. But that would be blasphemy.[:D]

Anyway... Here's BC New Zealand/Australia
Yes. I did take into consideration that the turret on the port side is forward of the starboard one.

Heres a rough design I threw togeather on SS (note the crazy beam to deal with the recoil from firing 20" superheavies). I didnt bother to work out the exact dimensions from the picture, so this is only a draft.
USS Wyoming
Displacement: 98,500 t standard; 109,300t full load
Dimensions: Length (overall / waterline) x beam x draught (normal/deep)
(1,067.02 ft / 1,050.00 ft) x 140.00 ft x (40.00 / 41.54 ft)
Armament:
12 - 20.00" / 508 mm 45.0 cal guns - 5,250.00lbs shells
4 x Triple mounts on centreline ends, evenly spread
2 raised mounts - superfiring
28 - 5.00" / 127 mm 54.0 cal guns - 69.49lbs shells
14 x Twin mounts on sides, evenly spread
6 raised mounts
Weight of broadside 64,946 lbs / 29,459 kg
Armour:
- Main Belt: 17.0" / 432 mm
- Gun armour: Face (max)
Main: 24.0" / 610 mm
2nd: 0.50" / 13 mm
- Armoured deck - multiple decks: 9.00" / 229 mm
- Conning tower: 20.00" / 508 mm
Machinery:
Oil fired boilers, steam turbines,
Geared drive, 4 shafts, 190,500 shp = 28.00 kts
Range 13,000nm at 15.00 kts
Bunker at max displacement = 10,830 tons
This thing over twice the broadside throw weight of the Yamato class. Felt it needed a few more 5in twins too, cause sticking to 10 seems sad for a ship with twice Iowa's displacement.
As for the second question, Ill leave that to someone else, since I have no idea how much steel an armoured division requires.

How precisely are you going to drive a 100,000t ship at 28 knots with 191,000 shp when the Iowa took 212,000 shp to make 33 knots?
