Kaibokan!

Post by Local Yokel »

Prompted by the discussion of Japanese escorts in the Reluctant Admiral thread I have been playing around with the artwork for the later kaibokan types.

There are quite a few changes from the original artwork in Stock. In particular, I've tried to show the difference between the diesel-engined 'C'-gata CD's and the turbine-engined 'D'-gata variant.

The Mikura and Ukuru classes, comprising the 'second series' of escorts, exhibit some quite subtle differences in this highly reduced scale, and I have done an early and late version of the Mikura to reflect the increase in its AA armament.

Here's an image to show the upshot of my efforts:

And here is a .zip file containing the _Back and _Transp versions. The zip breaks down into the appropriate sub-directories of \ART, and the file names indicate the original files from which I derived my efforts. All are bitmaps. Obviously anyone wanting to use all variants will need to rename as appropriate and create additional, distinct numbers for the files beyond the 0115 and 0116 of the originals that can then be referenced in their own mod's ship classes table.

Hope someone may like 'em enough to use 'em.

I'll probably use them once I figure out what distinct numbers to call them.
