There are two kinds of people in the forums. Those that love Kelly's Heroes, and those that hate it with a passion equal to that felt for The Movie that Shall not be Named. Out of respect for my good comrades that like Kelly's Heroes, I shall bow out of this discussion without saying any more.

Yeah Kelly's Heroes is a great movie. The most realistic one I've seen. Very good quality and one of my favorite WWII movies with action most all the way through it.

It is actually loosely based on reality. It was the largest gold heist in history. The suspects were not caught untill 1980.

I love it. It's not supposed to be a serious movie. It's just good fun. Major General Colt is my favorite character.

I love the exchange when the guy pronounces Clermont correctly.

"We've intercepted some signals that suggest some action at a bridge......near Clermont."
"Is that Clair MonT, Booker?
"Yessir."
"Then why the hell didn't you say so?"

I don't think it is a great war movie per se. I have always thought of it as a fun movie to watch that happens to be set during WW2.

Only seen the film once - as a 12/13 year-old I think. All I can really remember is that we were talking about it at school for ages afterwards because it was so good. No idea what I would think of it now, but would like to see it again to see what all the fuss is about.

I think it was significant for its time as the characters were among the first "anti heroes" of film. They were not patriots as most Allied soldiers are portayed in previous films.

I have it on DvD and watched it again t'other day, Great film. I have never really thought of it as a serious war film, but more of a dark humoured spoof and should be enjoyed for the fun of it. [:D]

Anyhoo if all liked the same stuff, life would be boring[8D]

Cheers

I like seeing the General. It was classic Carrol O'Connor.
