In the admiral's edition can I set commands to be computer controlled?

No, it isn't like its predecessor WITP. The best you can do is use auto convoys (and continuous supply convoys) under computer control to send supplies, but that is a dangerous practice. There are several threads on these.

There is a 'quiet china' option however where the players do no have to deal with the china front.
