playing 1.0.6 ...

1) AI doesnt adapt to my ship designs - i build cruisers / capital ships, loaded out with tons of shields, blasters / torps, and the AI cant even touch them, ive wiped out core colonies of 100+ AI star system empires with only a handful of these ships.

2) the AI only has 1 fleet? - ive got spies in deep cover, i can only see/find one AI fleet moving around - this is including the 2 big 100x starsystem empires

3) when i look at the diplomatic overview (im playing the Atuuk, on democracy) - i have over 40000 "military" strength, the closest AI is on 25kish,

4) some AI empires have more strategic, value, and tax revenue than me, but, still have a lower military strength, what?

5) the AI does attack my planets now and again which is great to see, with placement of my fleets in my colonies, im quick to react, however, the AI fails to react quickly when i start a rampage on their systems - could the AI have "home / defensive" fleets, and "attack / offensive" fleets? so that it can react to me attacking, and setup specific fleets for offensive missions; so that they always have something floating around defending their systems.

6) please implement a MOO "battle scanner" type of system for ships, to allow to see ship designs (hey there might be one, but i cant see it) - then allow the AI to use this (or even cheat) to weigh up the enemies ships "stats", then adapt a ship (build a new custom ship to suit that enemy / war/ specific ship type) to suit the bill to at least be able to hold its own, for a little while)

7) there is no point playing a game, where i can design mammoth ships that blow everything out of the water for ages; in order for me to enjoy the rest of this game im "forced" into not designing my own custom ships, so the AI has a chance, this is very fustrating.

8) the AI should not spam build escorts and frigates when there is no pirates around, ever during middle / end game. generally, at the beginning of a game, the AI should have a nice balance to things, but should then shift into a top heavy (captial ships, cruisers, destroyers) build up of fleets end game. The AI does not need tons of little ships patrolling its mines / bases whatever, when absolutly nothing is going to be attacking it, ie pirates. note: i can see my own AI controlled ships attacking a enemies base, automaticly causing a little chaos, and this should be defended, but the defense of these types of attacks should be in proportion of the attacks recieved - if these little skirmishes are low, then shift focus onto big fleets - be adaptable.

9) the AI should be able to rush research on things, - eg if i rush having larger shipyards, to build a cruiser, then the AI should see this as a threat, and then do the same / trade for it/ anything to get an equal footing.

Thank you

Alex

The expansion will have trace scanners to see ship design but I agree the A.I does not seem to adapt to either ship designs or ship numbers.

I don't know, I started 2 games yesterday and got royally whipped both times. I think the aggression level of the enemies plays a very large part in the ship designs. I play a modded theme...and both times I ran into one of the more aggressive/intelligent races I put in...end result, I had a huge fleet of destroyers wiping out all my planets.

Shameless plug for my own mod here. In the Kirk era Star Trek mod, just try keeping up with the Klingons in military strength. You can easily outplay them in terms of colonisation, economy and technology, but they build so fast and are so aggressive, if you don't encounter them before they conquer a few other empires homeworlds, you're in big trouble.

igard! thanks for the mod, it feels great, its a great piece of work, and i hope you do more.

the AI is a slighter harder challenge, but its still letting me down on some occasions - im about to make a post on asking some questions about the AI in the expansion..

Glad u like. I still have more to add to the existing mods and I intend to make another mod for each Star Trek era. Sulu, Picard, then Riker.

Just to add I did ask if there where any improvements to the AI and a tester that was in the chat replied that they are much better now and even during the session one cried out that the AI just took out one of his monitoring stations. I am hoping that they are more tactically inclined about taking out your outlying systems and defenses. I think also by the expansion description that they use fleets much better now so my guess is that they use more then one fleet I hope anyway.

Also if you see some of the new screen in the AAR posted by the two testers there is new sensor jamming and jump sensing scanners. My guess is that if a fleet is heading to one of your system and you don't have a hyper drive sensor that you will not see them coming, There is also stealth so I think we are in for a few surprises with the expansion.

Like Igard's Klingons, I have the SW Empire so revved that they are all over you like white on rice. It is difficult to keep up militarily.
I think with DW:RotS that will even be WORSE.[:@]

Yes Kregoth....actually I lost 4 monitoring stations. [:@] I'm assuming that the AI figured out which
stations to strategically take out because they could not approach my Regional Capital system they
were after from that direction successfully (there's a NASTY Ion Storm filling the sector next to
my Regional Capital....HUGE lightning bolts & all). And so far, against me at least, the AI has been
using "hit & run" tactics similar to what pirates do (except the strike force is usually 4 ~ 6 ships,
mostly Frigates). But never fret! I'm about a year away from finishing a World Destroyer. Upon that
happening (wasn't it the movie "Aliens" with this line?) I'm Nuke 'em from orbit....only way to
be sure...
Shields are useless in "The Briar Patch"...
