Emergency Reinforcements--Japan
This is just to illustrate and document the emergency reinforcement package Japan gets should the Allies trigger them by landing on the HI or one of the other hexes under Japan's national control. Methods and codes to see which hexes are involved in natioanl control can be found in post #s 7, 10, 11, 12, and 15 in the thread at
tm.asp?m=2620744&mpage=1
Methodology:
1) I landed portions of two US Army infantry regiments (19th and 21st) at a cleaned-out Nagoya on January 29, 1942.
2) Japanese emergency reinforcements triggered during the Japanese phases.
3) The Japanese package is very straightforward compared to some of the Allies'. I did not test, but assume, that there is only one Japanese package used for all situations.

RE: Emergency Reinforcements--Japan
Bullwinkle,
Certainly appreciate these playtests of yours, sir. Keep up the good work.
My only comment is how much those garrison divisions stink. Nice AV, but 35 exp. / 35 morale? Yuck!

RE: Emergency Reinforcements--Japan
Surprised we dont' get a bunch of 'Angry Mob Militia' groups. One of the main reasons we didn't go ahead and invade was fear that literally every man, woman and child in Japan would take up arms and fight. But I guess at some point you can't include everything. [;)]

These are the training cadres that provide basic training for recruits mobilised for war hence the depot status.
They are not fornt line units but in an emergancy any help is usefull.
Unlike allies japan is not fighting a global war therefore cannot borrow forces from other theatres.
Had I had time I would have added a one off PP injection to allow the Japanese to draw troops from Manchuria but wasnt possible

RE: Emergency Reinforcements--Japan
By the time Japan gets invaded, the Japanese player probably has PPs to burn. Creating some garrison forces in Manchuria to cover the garrison requirement would probably serve the same purpose Andy.

thanks bullwinkle!

Japan invaded! Counter invasion forces released.
Guards Depot Division arrives at Tokyo
2nd Depot Division arrives at Sendai
3rd Depot Division arrives at Nagoya
4th Depot Division arrives at Osaka/Kyoto
5th Depot Division arrives at Hiroshima/Kure
6th Depot Division arrives at Kumamoto
51st Depot Division arrives at Utsonomiya
55th Depot Division arrives at Takamatsu
56th Depot Division arrives at Kurume
57th Depot Division arrives at Hirosaki/Aomori
Since these arrive when the Home Islands are invaded, shouldn't these be called the "Home Depot Divisions"? [:'(]

Occasionally, and randomly, problems and solutions collide. The probability of these collisions is inversely related to the number of committees working on the solutions. -- Me.
RE: Emergency Reinforcements--Japan
Bullwinkle, thanks for the test! You didn't need to paste a screenie of each division though; they look the same!
As far as PPs, every time I have played Japan, I find I have excess PPs starting in mid-1943 or so; by then you have earned enough to pull everyone from Manchuria you really want to. Especially by 1945, the Japanese should have plenty to buy all those depot divisions.
They suck at first, but the other thing is after 60 days or so, they should be OK brigade-sized units. (50-ish EXp, and better morale)
