3.4 problem with xml maps

Post by josant »

hello
I have a problem saving a map in XML file with 3.4 version. I chose the option save map as(XML) and the program save it, but when i load the map (now a mml archive) I get the following message:

XML parsing error inside file ´C:\matrixgames\toaw3\Scenarios\map.mml´
Error:First Tag not found
At line 0, column 0.
First tag should be ´GAME´

Then i click in the accept button and toaw close itself returning to windows
If i load this same archive with 3.2 version it load well, so is a problem of the 3.4 version that can not load this archives.
The save game as(XML) and load (XML) game works fine.

Can you please try a few things for me? Rename it to map.XML and double-click to open in Internet explorer to see if there is a better error? Please also email me the scenario so I can try to reproduce it.

Thanks,
Ralph

I rename it to map.xml and internet explorer load it normally.
I can not send you the scenario because it is not a scenario, it is a test that i was doing. I do the test with other scenarios (like tutorial.sce that comes with the game) and always get this error.
My version is 3.4.0.191

OK, the work-around is pretty simple. I don't know if the fix will make it into 3.4, though, it depends on timing.

You need to wrap the MAP tag with a GAME tag. Add <GAME> as the second line and </GAME> as the last line.

Strangely, though, the OOBs don't require this. I'll have to fix that for 3.5.

I edited the .xml file adding <GAME> as the second line (before <MAP version=) and </GAME> as the last line , then i renamed by .mml file and... it works, the game can load this edited file.

Thanks.
