Terrain?

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Terrain?

Post by Ctaardvark »

Is different terrain taken into consideration in this game? From the screenshots I haven't seen much variation from fields or towns. Are there hilly areas and do they reduce movement for certain unit types? Swamps? What effect do forests have? etc etc.

Cheers

Right click on the Terrain Field will show you the different effects. Its the field in the upper middle.

Thanks, but I haven't taken the plunge and bought the game yet. What sort of effects are we talking about? Is there much variation in terrain types or is it just forest, fields and urban?

Combat effects and movement effects. Tanks fight better in the open, worse in forests, etc. Terrain also effects entrenchment levels, which give a bonus to defense. Terrain includes light and heavy forest, open (fields), minor and major rivers, low and high mountains, light and heavy urban, fortifications, roads and rail (for strategic movement). Also, some terrain provides more cover from air strikes and (maybe) artillery.

Also, supply is affected by Terrain as well. It's better to have a road/rail network than a supply trail through the forest.

Terrain plays an important role.
