One hex island mod

Hi, this mod for the pacific campaign scenario adds one hex to some islands to place your air units. This hex (airbase) has no sea access, so you can place land units over the island hex and protect your airbase.

Only changes map.sop, eyecandies.csv,info.ini and eyecandies.gfx (from stylized map skin, so recommended this skin, or you can make the appropriate eyecandy for your favorite map skin) .


Not realy tested, but it seems to work fine (better for pbem, but I dont think too much problem against AI).

Note: Loading scenario stops with an error message, but pushing esc key keeps loading (maybe someone can help about that).

What kind of message is that?
Did you added original owner, owner and controller for all new hexes?

Yes that was the problem for one hex.

But is it exploitable (i.e. Two corps in those little islands)?
If yes then this is for PBEM with house rules only.

I hope those airfield hexes can be coded like ports which can only be occupied by certain unit types (in this case, it is air units).

I don't think two corps is an exploit. As the land mass added can not be attacked via sea.
That means the game is the same. Land on the target hex. The city. Take the city.

Oh, I see they can counter attack your weak unit and kill it on their turn. But will they have enough movement point left to retake the city?

Maybe yes, maybe no. Depends upon terrain and if they kill the unit in the first die roll.

A problem that the added hex creates is complete control of the sea zone.
A fighter or bomber in that hex can be devestating as the only way to remove it is with a huge supperior force.

I don't see how a carrier force can remove it. The best you can do is one hit per carrier.
That leaves the plane to be reinforced and continue interception or a bomber continue to bomb the sea zone.

It really would need to be tested over several games to see the impact.

You probably need a fairly large force to attack anyway. Now it has to be larger. But how much larger?

Solves one draw back with air or land deployment in 1 island hexes. cool

Wouldlike to try...but not sure if this mod plays OK against AI or is it for PBEM only?

has anyone used it against AI?

TheAI might put two corps on the island. Or it will invade through the airfield hex.

Anybody have this mod? It's no longer downloadable. I lost my version when I had to reinstall the game.
