What's next for CC?

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

The battles for the Kokoda Track would be great in this game as they were generally small scale battles.

Gen. Montgomery: "Your men don't salute much."
Gen. Freyberg: "Well, if you wave at them they'll usually wave back."

^ that was tried with HTs in a mod for CC3.

If the HT was destroyed the crew was a full sqd of panzergrenadiers.

kinda sorta worked..but not really.

Yeah that was the englander mod I think.  There was lots of innovation in that mod, MGs tacked onto AT guns for close defence, extra close quarter fighting ability for some troops

HT and kangaroo's ccold hold troops and they disembarked when the vehicle was destroyed... just like the crew.

But with CCMT's mount/dismont feature coded into a new release campaigns could start off shore and troops could hit the beaches from the front LCT's etc.  as well as half tracks quickly transporting troops around the larger maps.

I have all the Red Phoenix work saved - 3D working models, an engine,  a bunch of research etc.

Much improved from what we have?

Presumably this would also allow transportation across rivers?

Wouldn't the underbridge element allow this?

I prefer something a little more snowy...

33 BGs each plus BO equivilent units for the Soviets. 10-12 german Bgs stuck in the kessel with limited fuel and ammo and the Soviets "respawning" at random on each of the Soviet entry points (Sov flags).

The 20-23 "active german BGs would have to project, then maintain a salient to let the trapped forces break out to them

Seeing Malibu West there, this has got to be based on Larry Bond's novel. What CC is this for?

Red Phoenix.  Never grew wings, rattled around on the ground some then went to sleep in the corner.  The files still exist.

That was from back in 2005

Simtek bought me a Daewoo and sent me to London to research Korean restaurants.

Al fell apart because of the London bombings.

I vote for a campaign focusing on the street fighting in Stalingrad. Then a game focused on the Phillipines with two campaigns, one in 1942 when Japan invaded, and one in 1944-1945 when America retook the islands. I would really like to play as the Americans and Filipinos in 1942 and try to hold off the Japansese.

what's next for CC? A game engine that set all the elements (soldiers, vehicles, maps) at the same scale (let's say 10 pixels/meter with the possibility to zoom out with the mouse wheel). Continue to improve the strategic map as it was done for LSA. Allow to make ships and trains with their element restriction. Bring back the below bridge element. I think it's all I want... Give me that Matrix, I bring the rest. ;)
