Question regarding close escort/Top Cover

Post by sven6345789 »

If you send bombers out on 10000 feet and fighters on an escort mission at 10000 feet, do they fly close escort or top cover or both?
If you want top cover ad lets say 14000 feet, do you have to set that manually?

RE: Question regarding close escort/Top Cover

Escorts always fly 2000 feet above the bombers. That means if you set a strike to 10k and escorts to 10k (for coordination) the actual altitude
of the escorts is 12k.

That said the clsoest thing resembling a top cover is a fighter sweep. The game engine doesn´t simulate top cover as comparerd to close escort.
If you set an escort to 14k for a 10k strike you brake coordination and increase chances that the escort does not arrive with the strike.
