Nice game but worthless AI

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Nice game but worthless AI

Post by koontz »

Played the first map as both sides won after 5min in both game
and the total loss for me was 1 injured enemy.

The shape of the Ai is for nostalgic resons? [;)]

Anyhow looking forward to this in MP.

The AI in any game will rarely challenge an experienced player, but with that said I think one battle is a bit early to call it "worthless". It's as good or better than the original AI IMHO, which was our benchmark.

the first map of the GC  - sure is difficult for me to believe you won both sides in 5 minutes.

What settings did you use?

Line on both and end battle when morale gets to low.

Why should I lie?

you could be mistaken...

The AI, in my experience,  won't even get the shermans moving on Walkensward in 5min... let alone be in a postion to be decimated

This is a kinda random but sorta related question:

For example, if I want to play as the Allies on Elite, should I set the German difficulty to Elite also or to Recruit (so they get better troops)? Or does it only matter what the difficulty is set to on the side Im playing as? Thanks.

The slider refers to the commanders ability.

if you consider yourself a good player... move your slider to elite... this will make it harder for you.

If you want the AI/opponent to have more advantage move his slider to recruit

The hardest game is you on elite and opponent on recruit... and visa versa

it's sort of counter intuitive

The difficulty settings effect both sides. If you're looking for the maximum challenge the game can give you put the AI on recruit so it gets max number and types of units it can and put yourself on elite so you get limited troops and types. Yes it will effect the side you're playing as.
