Artillery explosion bug

Post by Digs »

This doesn't happen all the time, but it's happened to me three times so far. I didn't take a screenshot of the third one. It's only from off board artillery, this hasn't happened with mortars or explosions from other sources. I'm using the latest beta patch - v3.51.

The explosion left of the AT trench to the north, is the explosion that stays on the map.

I'm not even quite sure I understand the bug enough to begin to guess how to reproduce it.

What's the issue with the explosions?

Is it possible to fix the problem with a tank firing at a certain location but its gun isn't pointed at its target?. Also, when a vehicle moves on an angle it looks as though it skating or gliding.

Which problem?, so far I've only seen that happen once with the tank gun firing at a different location than it's intended target.

Once in CoI I mean, but I've seen this happen plenty of times with the other CC games. Why can't that be fixed?.

I've played CC on multiple PCs with the same problem. Here's the specs of another PC.

System Specs:
Intel Pentium IV 1.8GHz
512MB PC800 RDRAM
Windows XP Professional
DirectX 9.0c
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro (128MB)
Sound Blaster Audigy

PC problem? Like a graphics driver problem? That seems odd to me. I've always noted that at times turrets and tank destroyers won't always be aiming directly at targets. It tends to happen the most when a vehicle has been immobilized.

I would have thought it was how the game was being told to draw the turret.

hmmm.. you will notice that nearly100% of the time the turrets etc are not misaligned and do what they are supposed to.

When something is playing up with your PC they will occasionally go out of sync.

I come across this problem every 2 or 3 years using the same PC.

The only cause from your description sounds like it would be out-of-date graphics driver...but I can't imagine that being a problem nowadays. I can remember this particular issue from the first times I played CC3 on a Gateway 2000. The fact that it happens still in 2010 tells me it's more likely something ingame than a PC setup issue.

Perhaps some odd graphics setting or something that conflicts with certain drivers? I don't know. Just throwing it out there. But thanks for the explanation.

It tends to happen the most when a vehicle has been immobilized.

Yeah, the last time it happened I immobilized a Tiger I with a ZiS-3 76.2mm ATG. My ATG was in the south on top of a hill protected by trees, and the Tiger was to the north, it retaliated with his gun pointed to the west, but the shells were landing near my ATG in the south.

What about the bug that gives you 50 requisition points at the beginning of an operation, is this going to be fixed?.
