Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem Is Announced!

Post by SeanD »

Take charge of the audacious plan to end the war before Christmas in this highly anticipated remake!

Matrix Games, Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) and Strategy 3 Tactics are thrilled to announce that Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem will be releasing in early July, 2010!

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles!

To mark the game’s announcement, a new teaser trailer is also now available which shows off some snapshots of gameplay in addition to providing some historical background for the dramatic setting surrounding Operation Market Garden. The video is available on YouTube or for download.

The Wargamer has also released some in-depth coverage on the new features coming in Last Stand Arnhem along with a hefty list of the improvements included from the previous two releases.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is packed with engine improvements, beautiful new art, and much more. Players who have enjoyed the perfect mix between exciting new features and the original gameplay that made the Close Combat series famous will certainly enjoy Last Stand Arnhem.”

As the Allies, you will carry out the world’s largest airborne operation, Operation Market Garden, to cross the Rhine and bring a swift end to the war or, as the Germans, use a hastily organized set of defense forces to prevent the Allies from reaching their ultimate goal, Arnhem Bridge. Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Get more information on Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem from its official product page and be sure to check out the video on YouTube and the coverage on the Wargamer!

Has bought and has downloaded at night. Looked 20 minutes. Appreciable changes in a strategic part of game were pleasant. In general there was a sensation that personal ideas of authors are embodied in game many and they have passed from game completion to its present development. After that hoped that at last number of groups accessible in tactical fight will make more than 15. Has not seen. Why? It is difficult or is inexpedient to do? P.s. It does not mean that I am disappointed by game.

The more units you have, the more workload for the player since this game is real time. It may turn into a clickfest that everyone's avoiding.  You will also get less attached to your troops. But I don't know what the magic number is.

I play Combat Mission Shock Force and controlling a formation larger than a company is more tedious than fun.
